This is a long day tour, but worth it. With lunch provided and dune surfing well worth it. Sadly the day we went we were unable to go on 90 mile beach as the weather was against us, the driver did try a number of times which made the day even longer. Great to see the meeting of the Pacific... More

I recently organised a trip to Cape Regina on the Dune Rider with my daughter from UK and her family and my son from Auckland with his daughter. We really enjoyed our day with driver Paul who was very informative telling us all on the trip about New Zealand history and the scenery was amazing especially at Cape Regina.

Paul our driver was fantastic, witty and very knowledgeable. The trip was well organised and gave us a great overview of the area. Sand duning, driving on 90 mile beach and reaching the cape were all highlughts. Nothing to fault in this trip and bus very comfortable.

The bus that picks you up looks like any other coach, but is almost amphibian. We whizzed along 90 mile beach with the tide just coming in and then went sand boarding. After a quick lunch, we drove out to Cape Reinga and walked down to the lighthouse, the most northerly point of North Island where the Tasman Sea meets... More

This was a great trip and our guide, Paul, was fabulously knowledgeable and entertaining. There are plenty of rest stops on the way and Paul arranged it so we were generally the only bus at each stop. The 4 wheel drive bus trip up Ninety Mile Beach is great fun! If you’re a socks and shoes person like me I... More

Dune Rider driver Paul made this day full of fun and so informative. We went to Cape Reinga via Ancient Kauri Kingdom store (great gift selection). Paul was able to get onto the beach with the bus after a terrific time sandboarding in the Dunes. When Paul saw some wild horses in the Dunes he pointed them out to us.... More

Thank you for the awesome review, thank you for using Explores services in the North. The wild horses are always an awesome bonus, took me 8 years to see them when I used other services to go to Cape Reinga. When I started with Explore this year I went with Explore and had Paul who found them for me. We... More

Despite not being able to drive on the beach (a first it would seem), we had a fantastic day all due to Tip our amazing guide and driver. We were in a state of the art 4 wheel drive coach but the waves were being blown onto the beach by the wind and it was too risky. Super lunch, loads... More

Kia Ora, Thank you for taking the time to review your day, sounds like good one. As you mentioned the waves were huge! Reports were coming in that they were crashing into the dunes! We usually plan the day around the tides. We try to go down or up the beach at low tide, but with the strong winds aiding... More

Our guide (Hone) was informative, friendly and funny. Very worthwhile taking a coach up rather than driving and risking getting your car stuck in the sand! Riding on the sand dunes was a real blast. Only downsides would be the lunch and the fact that the tour no longer stops at Gum Diggers Park.

Great trip up to Cape Reinga. Tour guide/driver Paul was great and very informative. Dune riding was fantastic. The lunch was unfortunately pretty average.
