Totally awesome experience but in summer, the blazing sun will cook you if you're not properly prepared. This combined with the heat and steam permeating off the geothermal attractions make you feel as though you've entered hell. It's a fantastic walk which doesn't require a...More

Artist's Palette, Champagne Pool, Lady Knox Geyser, Mud Pool and board walk are all the main attractions you must visit during the day trip. We took a paid shuttle bus there and the service was good. It saves you the trouble to schedule the visits...More

Beautiful place! Definitely a must see place to visit! Don’t even second thought it! It’s not all about the Lady Knox but is interesting to see it manually induced to erupt; BUT the whole geothermal park, the champagne pool, The devils bath, the craters! Mud...More

I'll start with some advice - the paths are exposed for the most part so on a sunny day you will need sunscreen and a hat or you will get burned as it takes ~90 minutes to walk around (longer if you take a lot...More

Extraordinary cool place! It took us 2+ hours to walk through the entire park but it worth as there were more than enough for you to explore. Strong smell of sulfur tho.

Wai-O-tapu has so much to offer. The entrance fee is reasonable. Staff are friendly and helpful and the trails/pathways are well laid out and marked. I always marvel at geothermal areas and this place did not disappoint !! I would recommend this park for an...More

Went there with Thermal Land Shuttle and that was good. Got picked up at 8 and we had an hour in the park before heading to Lady Knox which was awesome since there was nearly nobody else at that time. The park itself is pretty...More

If you know you can’t stand the smell of sulfur, don’t visit because the entire place has the smell. Other than this, walk is enjoyable with clear loop route to follow. In my opinion, the champagne pool was the prettiest thing there. As compared to...More

There are family tickets but you need transport to get there from Rotarua - either hire car or taxi. There are 3 levels of walks from short with no steps to longer with several small climbs. There are no rails to prevent... More
