Lake Rotorua is a nice lake but can be a little underwhelming, particularly if you've seen just a handful of lakes on the South Island.

A beautiful lake, next to a beautiful tourist town of Rotorua, you can walk around the lake or take up some water activities like kayak or speedboat, or roam around the garden for a quite and peaceful evening stroll.

No Charge, plenty of places along the lake to stop and see the beautiful views. Plenty of places nearby to stop and get something to eat.

Rotorua, a busy town in the center of the Northern Island. A lot of opportunities for tourists. Good restaurants, excellent choice.

Great Lake for trout fishing, mostly from boat. Lots of tourists in Rotorua City, quite commercialised being in NZ.

Considering that Rotorua is a tourist town, the lakefront is surprisingly peaceful and uncrowded. It is just a few blocks away from shopping, bars, restaurants etc, however the lake is a place where you can just go for a quiet walk and enjoy the scenery....More

We had been to Government Gardens and decided to walk down to the lakesid. It is peaceful, tranquil and just a nice place to be. There's a cruise boat operating from the lake as well as a couple of sea planes, not sure whether these...More
