Established in 1951, Pukeiti is an internationally recognised garden with one of the most diverse collections of rhododendrons on display anywhere in the world. A lovely drive out into the country from New Plymouth with pleasant views of Mt Egmont, Taranaki along the way . A cup of coffee on arrival sets you up for a really great experience through well cared for Gardens along well maintained tracks.

We went back to the Pukeiti gardens after 6 years, it was beautiful, tidy and interesting, the coffee shop is very nice, they have a good selection of food and drinks.

This garden is out of town about 25 or 30 minutes. At the time of the year we went many of the rhododendrons were not blooming. Still, the walks were still very nice and there were some other blooming plants.More

Thanks for your feedback. The rhododendrons mainly flower from July to December with the main season being October and November so you're quite right, there aren't many to see in March. It's a good time to enjoy a variety of other flowers and the beauty...More

The tree top walk from the cafe was great. The paths around the grounds are well kept. Although there were signposts for the various named tracks, it would have been helpful to also have some "Exit" or "Cafe" signs. It was a hot day when...More

Thanks very much for your review. You're quite right, although rhododendrons are the main type of plant we focus on, you don't have to have any interest in them to enjoy Pukeiti. However if you come in the spring you'll appreciate why people love them...More

You will find those plants you didnt know existed. Beautiful and also has ride-ons if you are unable to walk easily around - you dont want ti miss anything.!More
