Top of Wellington

Good place to have a birds view of Wellington. Road to summit is very steep. Need drive slowly in lower gear.

Amazing view of wellington. But the best time to visit is at night where the city of wellington really shows under the night sky.

I went up to the summit on a fine Saturday morning in early summer this month and fell in love with Wellington, my home until the age of 23, all over again! It was a sunny, still morning- albeit crisp and cool. The sky was cerulean blue and there was nary a cloud in said sky! These were the perfect... More

Went up to see the amazing views but it was very very windy. I wouldn't stay here for long, it's something you could do in 10-15min really. Take a cab and then order and Uber to come back down if you have other activities to do, else if it's good weather you can enjoy the stroll up and down.

The lookout is 196m above Wellington, accessible by car or a walkway through Town Belt. We chose the easier drive to the site’s parking lot. A short walk from there and we were rewarded with great views of the city, harbour, airport and Matiu Somes Island amongst many other things. If you’re there long enough you’ll see ferries, flights and... More

for driving us up here, although it was an absolutely wild day (day after quake) you did your best to give us a last look around Welly & show us the main things that I wanted to do but missed because of Sergeant Major. It was a lovely drive up there with loads of scenery, & of course the wonderful... More

This is the top location in Wellington, you see the whole town, all directions, all parts of town including the airport with starting and landing planes. But here are also walkes, nice with view and nature. Here also is the location of the filming of "The Lord of the Rings" , the first encounter with the black rider. Signposting is... More

It is worth the 30 minute walk from the bottom to look over Wellington. Very pleasant park land too. Or you can get a bus or a taxi.

A very well worth excursion to Mount Victoria to see the amazing truly panoramic view of the Wellington area including Oriental Bay, harbour, airport, and all of the hills around the city... truly beautiful spot.
