I kind of just stumbled across this walking around Wellington toady. If you go to the I-site centre they give you a city map that has all the attractions on it that are popular. I followed this map and ended up here. As I didn't know what this place was I couldn't really enjoy it. Turns out it's like a... More

The National Archives is a very quiet inconspicuous place hiding the originals of the Treaty of Waitangi. The city is planning to display the documents in the National Library soon, which will be a more cosy place than the National Archives. Until then, expect a dark abandoned room into which you will feel scared to enter. However if you have... More

This is an extremely quiet tourist attraction. And is a must do come on it's the founding document of our country. And trust me when I say this there is a lot of interesting information. And there are a lot of other important documents here at the national archives. Also there is a nice cafe in the foyer and it... More

Amazing visit to National Archives to view Te Tiriti/The Treaty ... and read/see the history of Aotearoa ... relax in the library of amazing resources. This is a 'must do' visit. It's FREE too! There's a cafe in the foyer.

I was somewhat disappointed with my trip here. Despite it being listed as a place to visit in guide books etc. it really didn’t seem a touristy place to go. I enjoyed seeing the Treaty of Waitangi but that was just about it for this place, there seemed nothing else to see!

Only a quick visit but an amazing resource an interesting part of Wellington too as not far from the National Library also, great coffee shops near by, the NZ Government buildings about 5-10 minutes walk away and plenty of beautiful gardens to sit in.

Seems to be little visited as we were the only visitors at the time. The original of the Treaty of Waitangi is house din a darkened room together with other fascinating original documents relating to New Zealand history. Well worth a visit. Close to the Parliament Buildings and has a good café on site.

I have never been to Archives before and had little idea of what to expect. The assistance given to those who were new to this research facility was amazing. Nothing seemed too much trouble to the archivists. They sat down and helped locate the relevant documents on the computer system, patiently explained limitations and then provided the documents. The service... More
