This is a great place for a stroll any time of the day or night. A bit like Venice Beach in California, you can see all sorts of people from all over the world. The views over the harbour are wonderful. There are restaurants along the way, and bikes to hire - both electric and four-ups. There are also bars... More

I love visiting Oriental Bay, especially on a lovely calm day. Great places to sit and watch the world go by or great for a walk.

In summer this is a great beach spot that's very close to the centre of Wellington. If you pick a good day, the sun will be shining and you can relax on the beach and take in the beautiful scenery.

This place gets crowded when the sun comes out in Wellington. It has a wonderful feel, nice clean sand and a great place to relax. A few restaurants/cafes just across the road if you're peckish. Recommended.

This was a rarity for us to see a beach with golden sand in our travels around the North Island on our trek from Auckland to Napier and then on down to Wellinton through Masterton. My partner and I were so excited we donned our bathers NOT wet suit like some others down there and dove in. Well it was... More

A bit of a walk from the main city centre, past Te Papa and a bit more around the harbour, but so worthwhile. Beautiful sandy beach, with free changing rooms and toilets and a large children's play area. Plenty of room to sunbathe, even on a sunny summer Saturday.

In the true tradition of the posada, the Parade is a great sunny day stroll with great views of the Harbor and the neighboring homes. At lunch it may be crowded with runners and strollers, but there few other spots like this in town.

On a sunny day you can't beat this place with its epic veiws and its closeness to the city. Watch out this is a alcohol free zone, but you just have to be cleaver in how you have it in your picnic basket, overall awesome place to kick the ball and have a swim

OK so the path is not too well signposted and at times your just guessing where next to turn but what a lovely way to return to Wellington from Mount Victoria. Passing spectacular homes with amazing views, acting like a kid on a "secret" slide and then ending up at Oriental Bay where the sun was shining and the Wellington... More
