This place was so fun!! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great for a family with kids. So much better than a Zoo.. it's great being able to be up close with the animals and pat them.

We visited Staglands while visiting Wellington. What a great place. Started with breakfast in front of the large open fire & went from there. The walk through Staglands was wonderful & really well set up. It’s a very beautiful setting with lots of interesting animals...More
this venue is tucked away in akatarawa on route between upper hutt and waikanae with a thin narrow road to get there. It is an animal 'petting' zoo but with bush and hillsides.
You need to travel to this location by car but it is worth it. Lots of animals to see and kids love it. Watch the weather and wear warm clothes if need be.Eats are available on site for the animals and humans.
Amazing experience. Well cared for, thoughtfully set up farm and wildlife experience which will enthral you! The bush and water ways themselves are an experience let alone the birds and animals. Open air aviary that meant I got close up and personal with one of...More
Great place to take the family where they can get up close and personal with a variety of farm animals. Takes a while to get there, but it's well worth it

Nice animal park in the bush in Upper Hutt, about 45 mins. north of Wellington. Great for families. Has a nice cafe and facilities for a picnic. Even a bbq. A bit of an adventuresome drive to get there but it's fun.
Our kids both young and old love Staglands. We have visited several times and the interaction with the animals is a highlight for all. Planning to visit again soon. Well worth the windy road trip to get there - you will not be disappointed.
