Our local relatives took us here for a sample of local chocolates. My mother has made Christmas chocolates for 50 years, but this was the best English toffee I've had anywhere. The toffee is rich but not too sweet with just the right amount of nuts and chocolate coating it. The staff was very friendly as well.

Watch them creating their masterpieces right in front of your eyes. Lovely stuff. Only complaint was that there were not enough small pieces or packages to buy. Pretty pricey.

Dont do what I did and walk in on your own. I was completely ignored. Not offered any tasting or any help. I found their selection quite limited and very overpriced. I bought some espresso sticks at some ridiculous price. Next time I'll get them from the supermarket. They'll taste just as good and I wont pay over $20 for... More

Perhaps not worth going out of your way to find, but if you're doing a perambulation around the local wineries it's worth a ten minute stop here to taste the samples and have a look into the kitchen. Friendly staff and well-presented products. Having said that if you've visited artisan chocolatiers overseas you won't be overwhelmed.

Handmade and packed chocolates. While driving on Route 62 make sure you stop off here. When heading towards Nelson from Picton it will be on the left not too far from State Route 1. Pull into the large car park and then go inside for a sample. They always have free samples usually of the chocolate macadamia brickle or peanut... More

We visited Makana Confections because their 'information flyer' said 'come and sample our chocolates' - clearly you would think that would be an obvious attraction.... BUT we arrived at the same time as a tourist bus which also could have put a spanner in the works from a tastings perspective! (as we got lost in this crowd of 30 people... More

Makana seems to be trying to make itself a destination but is doing little to distinguish itself. It seems to be focusing more on merchandising and sales than making it a unique experience.Staff were dismissive after offering obligatory tasting. No discussion of why Makana should be seen as unique, no engaging the customer in why Makana should be seen as... More

Awesome friendly staff, very helpful. We were able to taste some of the chocolates and lollies all of which were to die for! Spoilt for choice. Very busy but well worth a visit!

I hadn't heard of this place before until I stayed at my motel. Took a taxi out there and was so pleased I did. What can I say? Venue superb, chocolates fabulous and would definitely go back again (with a bit more money this time as it's so tempting to buy more). The macadania brittle is wonderful and I could... More
