Always a good place to go on a Saturday morning. Lots of food stalls, ready to eat as well as produce to buy. Go early to beat the rush and the heat.

We took a guided tour of the house and learned a lot about the history of Christchurch as well as of New Zealand. The builders and original inhabitants of the house were very instrumental in both the development of the city as well as the...More
Hard to get all of this in one stop, but Richardson House managed to fill the bill. A reallly great 1800s structure, wonderfully restored after the 2011 earthquake with a nice spot of lunch and an informative tour of the house and history of its...More
Wonderful walk through the native forest and the gardens including the raised beds in the vegetable patch at the back of the main house. Visited Deans Cottage, sat by the river and had a tasty lunch in restaurant, I had the flatbread with slices of...More
Great informative tour and interesting natural bush walk close to the city. We were disappointed with the grounds after visiting Mona Vale we expected better. The rose garden was a pleasant place to have a coffee but the outer areas are full of weeds.More
Thank you for your feedback. We would love to have a garden like Mona Vale but we are a charitable trust and have limited resources to keep the garden manicured to the standard we would like. Also with such a wet spring the weeds have...More

It is a pretty special place. What a good first impression of New Zealand. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Do come back for a tour - it is well worth while.

Many thanks for your kind words. It is such a beautiful time of the year and the grounds are looking maginificent.
This location hosts the best farmers market in Christchurch. Outstanding stalls who offer a range of exciting artisan food lines and plenty of supply. Always a highlight when visiting Christchurch
The market is very popular and very busy. The place comes alive - well worth a visit.
Nice place to visit on a sunny day...or even on a damp day. Nice easy flat strolls around the lawns and preserved bush areas...Grandparent and stroller friendly. Reasonably priced food and coffee on site and a nice range of places to sit, eat and drink...More
