Always love coming here, suitable for all ages. One of the staff working at the entrance was rude and otter enclosure needed a spruce up. Apart from that, was great.

We loved this wildlife reserve. New Zealand animals in a beautiful setting, with a few other animals to add to the collection. The Kiwi House was superb, the Kea's were adorable, the farm collection extensive and most of the animals were eager to relieve us...More

What makes Willowbank Wildlife Reserve really stand out is how interactive it is. My most memorable moments were hand-feeding eels, an emu (that let me pet its neck!), an enormous pig, and a dozen very eager deer. It's a lovely way to spend a half-day...More

This is such a well set out place and wheelchair accessible too. Follow the trail which takes you from being able to feed eels, little deer by hand, ducks and swans, donkeys, baby goats and bigger farmyard animals as well. The farmyard is so quaint...More

We called in to the reserve on a recent trip to the South Island. On the day that we were there, the weather was awful, so it appeared that we almost had the park to ourselves. You walk on a loop around the park and...More

This should be the #1 recommendation of what to do in Christchurch. The reserve is nicely maintained. As we were touring around the park, many free raged animals were freely roaming around us along the guided path. The animal there seems to be treated well...More

Loved it! Well laid out. Good for all the family. Tons of animal interactions. 2 hours plus is needed to do it well. Lobed the wallabies. They were tame and happily ate out of your hand

Larger than you think wildlife park with good mix of local and exotic animals. Some good education and conservation elements as well. Value for money for those with young kids in Christchurch

Willowbanks is advertised as the only wildlife park where you can see the New Zealand "big five", Because of the storm, which came after first two hours of our visit, we were not able see takahe, kaka and tuatara, but still enjoyed this little park...More

We were on a 12 day New Zealand cruise and used our one day in Akaroa to travel to Christchurch to do the Lemur Encounter. My husband really likes lemurs, and we've done encounters at other places, but very few places offer encounters with the...More

Willowbank is a Wildlife Reserve so is outdoors but is relatively sheltered. Kiwi viewing is still guaranteed as the are in a Nocturnal House.

HI - Half a day will give you enough time to view the reserve including the kiwis. The kiwi weighing that someone has mentioned is not available as this was a special promotion during school holidays for 'Save the Kiwi... More
