If you have a car it is worth a drive through the road tunnel to have a look at Lyttelton. It is a very old part of Canterbury and has a large working port. It is quite small and set on a hill but it...More

An interesting part of the Christchurch area and best visited on market morning when the place is buzzing. Great vibe with live jazz, dancers, performers and good variety of stalls, plus the adjacent shops are open also. Several choices of eateries and the i-site is...More

Lyttelton is a port. It was interesting to see it but other than the town and port facilities it did not offer us much else.

Lyttelton is a working port so lots of coming and goings and it can be quite noisey. It is worth spending a couple of hours here. It is an interesting place to wander around. Even though it was hit hard by the earthquakes it is...More

Went to this quaint little place to explore and have lunch. Really nice place with great places to eat while you watch the scenes at the port.

Since the earthquakes it is difficult to even find a cafe to have a coffee. Not easy for drive around and only worth the drive round the bays to check out the views of the harbour.

Lyttelton is a nice little town, on the steep Port Hills. If you are up for a good hike, I encourage you to climb the bottom of the docks to the cemetery at the top. You get some great views, and you burn a lot...More

The harbour of Christchurch is a scenic little spot on the other side of the port hills but it's only worth a visit if you want to see Governors Bay and/or Banks Peninsula as well. I can't recommend coming here only for Lyttelton
