Lyttleton is a town primarily there because of the port and most of the surrounding buildings and shops relate to the port while some obviously cater for the local people who stay there. It has several empty patches of land which probably relate to buildings...More

Caught the bus after visiting the gondola ride. Wandered around the shops and enjoyed a delicious roll and slice at the bakery. Coffee at the bakery was good too! A pleasant afternoon and then caught the bus back to city centre.

We bought several meals worth of food. Very good food selection and great people to talk about local life. Took 45 minutes to get a coffee, so order before walking around.

Love any town that has a bronze sled dog mascot! :-) There are a number of things to do in this hard working port town. Great food at Fisherman's Warf

It is a small town with great views of the harbour. The man in the information centre was very helpful, a trip on the ferry sounded nice but we didn't have enough time.
