As a cook and a proud Cantabrian I know my way around good ingredients and I know where to find them and that's at Canterbury cheesemongers! Not only are there products delicious but there staff is delightful, I was greeted with a smile and easily the best sandwich I've ever had. Whenever in the area the cheesemongers is a must... More

We found this little gem by chance - visiting Christchurch from Cruise ship Celebrity Solstice. We were looking for somewhere to have a sandwich - this place is heaven. The owner is originally from Yorkshire and makes a large array of very tasty cheeses. There is also a bakery on site too, which makes for excellent cheese sandwiches. It can... More

Chance to taste different cheeses and then have it in a freshly baked roll. Best to order roll before you go into the tasting room and must be before midday. The locals know about this place and by 1215 the bread was gone....so yummy!

Love coming here and picking out an assortment of cheeses. Going into the back room and learning about what's new and what's recommended is great fun. If you love cheese and like the idea of buying a local product marked with the name of the cow that helped produce it, come by the old Arts Center (slowly rebuilding) and check... More

New Zealand dairy is (forgive me) cream of the crop, and this little gem tucked away on Montreal street is the perfect showroom for these national treasures! On your way to the Botanic Gardens for a sunny picnic, why not grab a cheese (of your choice) sandwich on fresh ciabatta with house-made chutney and lettuce!!! By far my favorite snack... More

As big cheese fans this was a must do for us visiting Christchurch. We were not disappointed and took home over $70 worth of cheese - oops! Friendly and informative staff happy to let us sample first. Free parking.

This is a great cheesemongers with an excellent range and a great bakery of European breads. At lunchtime they serve sandwiches where you choose the cheese from their vast range! Great coffee makes a really great lunch at modest cost. The ciabatta was the freshest and best I have had in years.

This is a great little shop, although not the easiest to find. As cheese lovers, especially one of our group members who is Swiss, this shop is great. The range is extensive and comprises local and international product. The service we received was excellent on both occasions that we visited, with the knowledge of their product being clearly evident. As... More

A nice sunny day in Christchurch and this little shop seems to be a go to for tourists.and locals. We read about it in Lonely Planet NZ and the write up overstated the make your own idea. Everyone in the shop is a bit tense and protective with their cheeses. No trying your cheese selection and strictly no touching the... More

Lovely little shop. We were a bit overwhelmed when we walked in, it was quite busy, but the friendly staff sorted us out. We tried two different cheeses in our sandwiches which we took to go and ate them at the Botanical Gardens. There was fairly limited seating. Not cheap but not particularly expensive, especially considering the quality of the... More
