Worth a stop for the walks, the surf break and general exploring. Absolutely stunning part of the world & perfect for a break from driving if you need a couple of hours or overnight stop.

Well worth a drive out from Dunedin along the coastal road via Warrington, This little village has both beach and riverside walks, but also a little peninsula with a short loop walk by an old Maori Pa site which is interesting. An easy rolling stroll with some information panels, Maori village structures, and lovely sea vistas, It could be a... More

This beach is 25 kilometers North of Dunedin. It has a very safe beach, and also the Waikouaiti river runs through the village. It has a domain that can be used for picnics. Safe for supervised children.of all ages. Scenery to die for.

We were driving from Dunedin to Oamaru and followed the coastal road wherever we could. This was a lovely beach with white sand and great rocks which I believe are called Old man and old woman rocks down one end of the beach. it was a windy, cold day when we stopped but we could imagine how nice it would... Definitely worth heading off the main road to this village. While it was a wild, windy day when we called through it would be great on a warm summers day. Great views from the Pa site on the headland.

Take the scenic route into Dunedin from Karitane & experience a stunning vista northwards over the beach. Great place to stop for a rest or a picnic.
