A wonderfull recreational area for the outdoorsman, sun seeker, shell collector or nature enthusiast. Very remote too - if you're looking for a quiet oasis for picnicing while enjoying the beautiful scenery, I would recommend Dunedin Beach.

The beach was stunning when we visited despite it being pretty wintry (it was only the first day of Spring). There were surfers out and the waves were amazing. Far too cold for swimming but a fabulous place for a picturesque walk.

Have only visited in winter so am not sure about how many people there would be in summer! However I had several walks along there with my daughters dog and never saw many people nor any rubbish(it's humans that spoil things!) The waters look clean and the surfers have a great time. There are cafes nearby serving excellent coffee and... More

The Esplanade at St. Clair's beach is great. It is great to watch the waves crashing onto the boardwalk, the warm seawater pool is great. The Cafes & Eateries have good to great food. There is a variety of foods. The views from all the Rest. are good. Salt & Starfish have the best coffees. Starfish has the best brunch.... More

This is the southern third of a very long beach. St Kilda Beach is the northern third. Is spectacular all year round, and yes they do surf in winter. (Thick wet suits are essential!) Great for families all year round...dress very warmly on cold winter days. Good surfing and swimming in summer. There are some great bars and restaurants right... More

If visiting Dunedin spend some time having a look around the Dunedin Beach's summer time great for a swim and family time on the golden sands or winter park up and watch the surfers out in freezing waters.

A wonderful place for a walk at low tide. You can start at St Clair and walk all the way to St Kilda. Nice to sit at St Clair and watch the surfers too
