Short and sweet (or should I say steep), this is a great alternative to taking the very commercial gondola.

Did this walk on a clear afternoon after some rain in the morning and all of the previous day. The track is well formed although was a bit boggy in places. The views from the top are stunning. Allow plenty of time.

Headed up Queenstown Hill mid-afternoon after a largish meal on a stunning sunny day. Well formed track, steepish in places but with heaps of forest cover so we didn't cook too much in the sun. Interesting information boards with snippets of history along the way...More

Despite being to Queenstown a few time before we had never done this hike. After doing it we would ensure that every time we visited we go there. Moderate and well kept track. Sightseeing moments along the way. Captivating views...to have a lot of snow...More

This hill provides the best view of the lake and mountains. Unbelievable! Very steep though so be warned. If you stay here, walking into town is great but coming back takes your breath away.

I really felt I had achieved something going up this hill - it is a real effort to get up there for someone who is fit-ish but not super-fit (and 60+) - but do not attempt this unprepared. Good walking boots and a stick -...More

It's the perfect place for you and your boyfriend Kim. We have visited NZ in January and February on 3 occasions. Can be wet anytime of year though and thus summer had been very hot though usually about mid 20s

Hello! It was pretty steep and I can imagine parts of the track would be slippery if it has been raining. I would suggest hiking boots if possible, my sneakers did ok though. Also take water, as it is a bit of a walk to the... More
