Travelled over in the evening on the Earnslaw for a BBG meal. What a fantastic trip and fantastic views. The meal was excellent and the variety of food was extensive from salads, vegetables, meat, seafood and deserts. There is too many types of food to mention. If you get the chance to go you will come away with a very... More

What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon/evening, firstly crossing the lake on the old steamer, then arriving at such a magnificent establishment as the Walter Peak High Country Farm. The property itself is gorgeous, the food amazing, staff incredibly diligent and helpful. Then the Sheep Dog trial was also a lot of fun, hadn't seen this type of action... More

My partner and I took the steamboat across for the buffet lunch, aside from the unorganised chaos of all the tourists trying to board seemingly at the same time I loved it. It was a windy day but sunny and the trip over was great. The cafe have great coffee and food if you're a bit peckish before you get... More

The trip includes a ride o a very old steamship to a farm where they prepare fabulous buffet lunch- you can also go for dinner and a demonstration of dogs herding sheep and them being sheared. The farmer was very instructive and it was great watching the dogs obey his commands.

I last visited the Farm in August/September 2014 (the end of winter) with my wife. (Below it states September 2016 which is wrong.) On the steamer that takes you to the Farm across the lake, we teamed up with another couple from Coffs Harbour (a wonderful place in its own right) and had a splendid night. The buffet dinner was... we had a night-time cruise to the farm on the old boat (amazing!) followed by buffet dinner in the beautiful function rooms. It was lovely, although very busy with tourists! The farm was fantastic - so wonderful to see how the farm works, with the border collies rounding up the sheep and a live sheering demonstration - an eye opener... More

We enjoyed our visit to Walter Peak, but one trip is enough. It's not the kind of place you would visit multiple times. The food is buffet style and the meat and dessert selections are excellent. The sides are extremely limited. After you eat there are sheep herding and sheering demonstrations that are interesting if you are new to it.... More

we caught the old steamboat to the farm lovely trip out listening to some old tunes on the piano. our evening meal was lovely. the staff seemed to cope quite well with the large crowd. the food was varied and cooked nicely only problem was that we were the last table to go up to the buffet which meant that... The chef of Walter Peak station is excellent. There was an extensive selection of seafood, poultry, lamb, beef and salads. The dessert area was to die for. The staff was efficient and continuously replenishing dishes. Never run out of anything.

We visited the Walter Peak farm on the TSS Earnslaw, cruising up the lake from Queenstown. When we reached the shore, the view of this beautiful old farmhouse, sitting on the shores of the lake with the dramatic mountain backdrop was breathtaking. The food - a buffet lunch - was superb. Far better than you'd expect of a buffet. And... More
