Nothing to do with Tilley Hats
Jul 2019
We were on a road trip and decided to go off the path to visit the Birth Place of Sir Leonard Tilley. Interesting old house and we took the same pictures as other travellers.
It was a rainy day and this was a good place to visit. He had a very distinguished career and his statue is in the park in Saint John

Interesting look at how the well-to-do lived, but it's not about Tilley
Aug 2018 • Couples
Nicely preserved 18th century home filled with period furniture and items of daily living, including a muzzle-loader rifle you are invited to hold. Our young guide earnestly explained everything we saw, referencing his notes once in a while. I was expecting information about Tilley, one of Canada's founding fathers, but there was hardly a word about his life. $6 CDN per person.

Stopped by Gagetown to visit the Tilley House Museum. David our tour guide was extremely hospitable, knowledgeable, and provided great insight into the life of Sir Samuel Leonard Tilley, a Father of Confederation, and into life in the area in the 1800's. the museum houses many period artifacts and photos. Great little stop to learn about some history.

We popped in on a day trip to Gagetown. We expected a quick walk-through of this house but were instead were given a very informative, interesting and entertaining tour by our extremely knowledgeable guide. He knows his history and makes a perfect host for this journey through time. I highly recommend!

Step Back in Time
Jul 2016
Located in the scenic village of Gagetown, New Brunswick this is one of four local museums administered by Queens County Heritage also including the County Courthouse, Loomcrofters weaving studio and the Anthony Flower house and gallery. You can enjoy the countryside and take in the history too. Tiller House is the birthplace of one of the fathers of Canadian confederation. Knowledgeable student guides can take you through these historical sites that showcase a large and diverse collection of local artifacts. A day well spent.
