An amazing building.

Just stop, and walk around this impressive old cathedral. Admire the work that went in to its construction, so many years ago.

My wife and I visited the cathedral on a slow Monday morning. We were the only visitors at the time and were welcomed in to see around. The cathedral has an interesting history, but the tower is currently under restoration so we were unable to see the view from the top, which I'm sure would be truely amazing. After the... More

Newcastle's (Anglican) Christ Church Cathedral is one of two cathedral's in this city. The other is the (Catholic) Sacred Heart Cathedral, located in the CBD's west end. Christ Church Cathedral is the older & more visible, situated on a hill in the historic eastern area of Newcastle's CBD. It has a commanding yet majestic visual presence. This Cathedral took over 95... More

The church itself is an amazing piece of architecture. Beautiful inside and out. There is also a really old small graveyard in the grounds, and the view from the hill of the harbour is awesome. I often go up there and use the garden to eat my lunch and look at the amazing view. its a little bit of serenity... More

Attended a wedding here and was very nice. The best location with great views of the city. Worth the time to drop in and have a look.

The receptionist was very friendly and full of information. The interior of the church was very interesting.

The cemetery closed in 1881, and even though my great grandmother was buried there, she was not recorded on any lists. The information guide was most helpful in having a look through the files for me. 3300 buried, but not many have been preserved. A long walk up from the street behind reveals names engraved on the many steps. How... More

This is a huge cathedral which can be seen for miles around Newcastle. I drove down town tonight after seeing it all day from different directions, it is well lit up at night and the architecture is amazing. I will not have time to explore inside this trip but will try to get back one Sunday and hopefully attend a... More

The ladies at the visitor centre said this was worth a look & so it was. The grounds are very well maintained & there was a lovely elderly lady at the door to geet us with some information about the church. It was massive inside and quite beautiful. So glad we popped in for a look.

Beautiful old cathedral standing proudly high on a hill overlooking the city and foreshore. Pretty impressive inside with all of the tapestries, polished seats and devotional areas. A must see.
