"Nothing is great unless it is good" is the mission statement...

"Nothing is great unless it is good" is the mission statement that has guided Tyrrell's Wines for over 150 years; and since Edward Tyrrell established the winery in 1858, we have continued to produce premium wine from what are now some of the oldest vineyards in the world.

Tyrrell's is one of Australia's oldest family owned wineries. We produce some of the country's most renowned wines, including the iconic Vat 1 Semillon, and since 1971 our wines have been awarded over 5,500 trophies and medals. Tyrrell's Wines is a proud member of Australia's First Families of Wine and along with our original, historic vineyard in Hunter Valley, we have expanded into other premium Australian wine regions like Heathcote, VIC and the Limestone Coast, SA.

Wine Tastings and Winery Tours

Visit Tyrrell's Wines' historic cellar door and vineyards in the Hunter Valley and immerse yourself in over 150 years of award winning winemaking tradition. Join us for our daily winery tour and experience our historic red cellar, see the ironbark hut that was the original home of Edward Tyrrell and learn about how our wines are made. After the tour, enjoy a wine tasting showcasing the best of our regional wines. Whether you enjoy red wine, white wine or anything in between, you will be sure to find something you love - from the iconic varieties of the region like Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay right through to our premium Fortified and Sparkling wines.

Visit us in the Hunter Valley

Located 2 hours from Sydney, our cellar door is open 7 days a week. Visit us and indulge in some great Australian wine from one of the country's most historic wine regions.

We really enjoyed our tasting experience at this winery. They had lots of wines to choose from and some select wines to taste that cost a small amount. We decided to do the tour and our guide was informative and fun. The tour cost $10 and included tasting 3 wines. It was interesting to learn about the history of the... More

Our guide at Tyrrells was an expert on winemaking and the history of wine in the area. He was very informative and knowledgeable, and made the talk very interesting. The tour of the winery was good too, with lots of information on what we were seeing. The wines themselves that we tasted were very nice, and we were offered the... More

Had a great hour here, tasting some nice wines, learning a lot about the different wines, and soils the grapes are grown in. Highly recommend it if you are in the area.

From the outset let me say that I have visited on more than one occasion and have had good experiences in the past. However my last visit has soured my impression of Tyrrell's and I am sad to say we won't be back. Whenever we have family and friends visiting us from the UK, we always take them to Tyrrell's... Tyrrell's is one of the oldest wineries in the Hunter. They have plenty of space for groups to visit and taste their wines. Also provide a brief tour of the winery. We enjoyed a brief walk amongst the grapevines.

The Gentleman serving me on my last visit was outstanding. He was generous, kind, witty, funny and made buying Tyrrells wines fun and interesting. I'm not a connoisseur of wines and needed a helping hand. I was buying a couple of really nice wines to bring back to the UK for my husband and his Father (a 70th birthday pres)... More

One of the points in my agenda on visiting Hunter Valley as Tyrrell's is quite well known brand in Australia an not only. My final impression: big disappointment, to be honest. The place looks good with all these old buildings, winemaking facilities and dozens of barrels and there are also impressive genealogical tree of family, presented on the wall, however... More

After a succession of lovely but somewhat samey wineries in terms of their presentation, Tyrrell's comes as a breath of fresh air for its timber and dirt floors! Friendly staff and great wines (the verdelho is a classic in our house) - and keep an eye out for the fascinating photographic family tree on the wall.
