The Lookout at Lamberts beach is fabulous with views to the south and north of Mackay. Also a great place for Whale watching as they pass up the coast.

The beach itself is beautiful although there are a lot of pebbles through the sand plus rock pools to explore during low tide. Fun for kids

We thought that Lamberts Beach was the pick of Mackay's beaches. Gentle waves for swimming and Life Savers are at this beach.

The beaches around Mackay are not what one comes to expect in Australia due to the barrier reef and islands - Lamberts has better sand

Rarely very busy and still deep enough for swimming at low tide... a rarity in this region given the 6m tides!
