The Port of Echuca is a living monument to the 1870's when it was Australia's largest inland port and indeed the third largest port in Australia outside Sydney and Melbourne. Authentic steam driven paddlesteamers depart daily from the Echuca Wharf which originally extended 333 metres in length in the 1880's and has been recently been reconstructed.Home of the TV series "All the Rivers Run", the Port of Echuca will provide you with a glimpse of what live was really like in the late 1800's. With the new Discovery Centre now open, it is indeed an attraction not to be missed.

Yes you must try if you happen to go Echuca

It is a must if you can go Echuca. It is a wonderful experience to try those classic paddlesteamer boat. But it might not be so attractive for those younger kids.

Fantastic tour with our guide Joel, and a great museum too. Can't help but fall for the romance of these old paddle steamers and the historical society has done a great job of taking you back to there hey day.

I don't give out excellent reviews often but this tour was really in the most informative and well constructed I have ever experienced throughout . Our guide was Joel (or Blue as he can be called) and his review of the history of Echuca and in particular the Port area I found fascinating. Prior to the tour we went on... More

Went to the Discovery Centre to explore the Historic Port. You need to pay to see it all. Went on a guided tour which was informative. Jenny, the guide, took us to place you wouldn't normally see. They also have interactive displays some which would be very suitable for children. Staff were very friendly. We bought a combine ticket for... More

We took the tour just before our trip on the Pevensey. Joel the tour guide kept us and all the kids informed and entertained as we went around the wharf area and the centre. He did a great job of linking the history of the Port and Murray River trade to the drivers of 1850's Australian economy. This is quite... More

Echucia is located on the banks of the Murray where it is joined by the Campase River and, as it was Aussie school holidays, it was buzzing. The water front wharfs are unchanged since the port was used as a shipping point for the areas great wool industry and six original nineteenth century steam paddle steamers have been restored and...
