Went for a like drive whilst staying in Warnambool and stumbled onto the lookouts at Bay of Island. Was a good view and a nice place to stop for a bit of ocean watching.

We were travelling west to east along the Great Ocean Road so the Bay of Islands was the first stop. The weather wasn't perfect but the views were still pretty dramatic. Parking was easy and it was only a relatively short walk along the boardwalks....More

travel the great ocean road from east to west otherwise you will miss a lot of attractions lots of photo opportunities be extra careful on the narrow winding road lots of buses and caravans

We are fascinated by the ocean and the way the waves break from far out, change direction and break and spray up the cliffs. The colour of the ocean breathtaking. Will surely come back.

Tick....... What an easy drive along a spectacular coastline. Bay of Islands is unreal. Keep travelling down the coast to more. Port Campbell...12 Apostles...Apollo Bay...Lorne......

Very beautiful scenery. Even though it is "less famous" than the 12 apostles, I actually preferred the experience to the twelve apostles because when I was there, it was significantly less crowded (perhaps it was the timing-about 10am).

We travelled along the "Great Ocean Road in April 2017 visiting all the "sights" most of these are very close to the main road, some require a short walk, and some longer walks.

Do plan a short stopover to admire this magnificent sight, and watch the waves crash into the rocks. If you are in a hurry, 10-15 minutes is sufficient to take a good look and snap a few photos. Its definitely less crowded than the 12...More

The coastline of southern Victoria is just stunning. The combination of the colours of the sky, the rock formations and the rolling oceans are so picturesque that you'll end up taking so many photos just so you can keep the memory of them going well...More

If time is not an issue, I would suggest similar to what we did, and that is, if travelling from Melbourne, schedule your GOR trip so that you reach Apollo Bay late afternoon and plan an overnight stop there at one of the... More

I would pack a Rain Coat as early September , there is the usual spring rain, and it may be windy and chilly so a warm jacket would be needed
