The Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury WA is 90 minutes south of Perth. Koombana Bay is home to local wild Bottlenose Dolphins who regularly visit the interaction zone at the Dolphin Discovery Centre. Swim on the wild side encounters or Dolphin Eco Cruises are a great opportunity to interact with the dolphins in their own environment. The philosophy behind the centre is to promote research, conservation and education of the Bottlenose Dolphins and other native marine life. The centre operates October to May 8am - 4pm (closed Christmas Day) and June to September 9am - 2pm.

The Discovery Centre is of only minor interest with the feeding of the octopus being the only thing worthy of note (and you have to be there at the right time to see that). The entry fee isn't really worth it, but they are a non-profit organization with their hearts in the right place so we didn't begrudge them that... More

We had a beautiful visit to the Discovery Centre, what a great place and well worth the visit! We went on Saturday afternoon, checked out the centre itself, then went down to beach to wait on Dolphins. They were a no show in the afternoon but as entry allows you a total of three visits we returned the following morning... More

This is an inexpensive Centre and we did see some dolphins - no guarantees! There are also interesting items on display. Well worth a visit, kids and adults will enjoy it. And there is a cafe area.

Have visited the Dolphin Centre several times and if you care about the environment and like Dolphins then this is the place to go in Bunbury. The Centre has not changed much over the years but has just started to embark on a substantial investment and improvement plan. There is no guarantee that the Wild Dolphins will come into the... There are no dolphins in captivity. They come and go as they pleased. Best time to visit is before 10am. We reached around 12pm, staff informed us the dolphins had made 2 visits already in the morning. We still bought tickets and had an amazing talk through with the staff on starfish. Suddenly we heard bell ringing and the staff... More

This is one of the best places I have visited in ages.. Good value and run by volunteers its NOT big and commercial. We spent ages in the aquarium especially at feeding time where the staff are very knowledgeable and educate you in the species they are feeding. There is a great 3D theater and a small cafe. ( only... More

Unfortunately we arrived around 11.00am and waited for an hour or so, but were told that the dolphins usually come in between 9.00am and 10.00am so didn't see any. It is only $10.00 to get in and we did get a pass to return so did so on our return journey. It was about 4.00pm and we did manage to... More

Thank you for your review. The dolphins which visit the Interaction Zone are wild animals and for this reason cannot be guaranteed, although we have frequent summer visits with mornings being the most common time for dolphin interaction. Because we can not guarantee dolphins every day, your entry tickets allow you 2 free return passes which can be used at... More

Knowing the oily rag that this facility runs on, it is so pleasing to see such a wonderful facility largely supported by volunteers. The Dolphin Centre has done a marvellous job of presently a facility that everyone visiting the south west should endeavour to visit. The centre is spotlessly clean and displays are of a really high quality. What really... More

Thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback. I am thrilled you had a wonderful time at the Dolphin Discovery Centre. Thank you for also mentioning our wonderful staff and volunteers, who with out the centre would not exist. Like you have said we have redevelopment plans to make the centre much bigger, with more interpretive activities and larger... More

The 1st day we visited we waited for an hour, and then gave up, but our tickets were valid for 3 days, so we returned the next morning at 8.30 am and were rewarded by seeing a pod of dolphins in the distance, and then one bottle nose came towards the 'interaction' zone and about 15 of us lined up... Thank you for your review. I am so glad you had an enjoyable day at the Dolphin Discovery Centre, and that you were able to view the wild dolphins (even if just a swim by) in the interaction zone. The dolphins are wild animals and for this reason visits cannot be guaranteed, although we have frequent summer visits with the... More

Thank you for your review. I'm so thrilled you had a wonderful time at our centre and with the wild dolphins. This is a truly unique and special experience to view dolphins in the wild. Our dolphins visit frequently in the summer months, with morning visits being the most common, although visits can never be guaranteed. Along with the dolphin... More
