This is a very popular swimming beach, particularly first thing in the morning i.e. between 6-00 and 8-00am in the summer, when there are a large number of groups of swimmers, most of whom appear to swim across the length of the beach and back.
There is a large free parking area near the White Elephant Cafe as well as showers, toilets and change rooms. There is also an overflow car park on the headland above the cafe.
The beach appeared to be reasonably protected from large waves via an offshore reef, certainly this was the case during the five days we were there.
There was also a pontoon about 20 to 30 metres off the sand and a jetty and a boat ramp.
There was also a lovely largely sealed walkway through and at the back of the sandhills that stretched about two kilometres between Gnarabup Beach and Surfers Point.

Another lovely beach area visited on a number of occasions over the years and enjoyed by the family. High winds and the sudden torrential downpour had my wife and I hurrying to the car but not before I managed to get a few photos of the overcast conditions and the heaving sea. The area is usually thronged with people during summer months, but we were the only two. Fair amount of erosion as a result of the wave action.
There is an abstract sculpture adjacent the boat ramp, a six sided geometric structure by local artist, Kashmir Rouw, titled 'REFUGE'. It highlights Gnarabup as a place of safety and protection as it was at this location that people sheltered during the 2011 bushfires.

I do love this beach and it is great to have a cafe if you feel like you need something. The only thing i find annoying during the summer is the swim school, but i guess they have to do it sometime.
There is quite a bit of seaweed so i don't love that, but there is usually some where without it. There is also a swimming pontoon you can swim out to. Quiet after all the swim school have finished.

We visited Margaret River and loved everything about the area. The wineries were superb. Staff friendly and informative. I would recommend the wineries we visited- Pierro, Fraser Gallop, Robert Oatley, Notting Hill, Fermoy. I was disappointed with Vasse Felix. It was run as a commercial business and missed out on any personal service. The boutique family owned wineries were far nicer and friendlier. The Margaret River Beaches are some clean and beautiful to swim in.
Great holiday destination all round.

This is a stunning little beach which is really safe for swimmers and children. There is also a boardwalk from the car park stretching right around to the opposite headland. The walk takes about 40 each way and offers some great views.
My only advice would be, keep your lunch covered up as the seagulls can be a bit of a pest,

This is a beautiful beach and very popular with the locals and visitors. We continued south along the coast and walked a few kilometres of the Cape to Cape Track. The coastline is spectacular and when the surf is up, you need your wits about you. The power of nature is impressive.

A fantastic beach not far from Margaret river town. It is ver sheltered especially the corner of the beach if a southerly wind is blowing.
White elephant is a great spot for coffees and morning breakfast . It can get very busy in summer.
You can also hire a sup board on the beach during summer time and it's a great place for snorkeling. I myself seen a huge manta Ray here and wobbegong shark.
Not 5 stars as sometimes the seaweed can impact the beach sand and smells bad , alsl it is full of flies.
Good to escape the winds .

Just down from Prevelly Beach / Surfers Point, this stretch has a cafe (The White Elephant), a nice scenic path for joggers/walkers, and is easily accessible by car.

Gnarabup Beach has lovely sand with the added bonus of a fantastic cafe and walk trail close by. You can watch the waves roll in and the paddlers and surfers further out while sipping your coffee.

Gnarabup Beach is on the WA coast a short distance from Margaret River town. We stayed on the coast for 3 nights while we were discovering the Margaret River area. We thoroughly enjoyed the views on the Indian Ocean coast early in the morning, for walks along the beach and later in the early evening for the stunning sunsets, as we returned from our day of adventuring. In September it was too cold to swim and there were quite startling signs at some beach entries of the dangers that may befall you, eg sharks, rips, rocks and the like, however there were always surfers out on the breaks defying the odds! This is a truly beautiful coastline and it was an ideal place to visit and stay at, as it is roughly in the middle of the attractions of the area. The wineries and craftspeople are largely to the north and Cape Leeuwin and cave systems to the south. The trip from Perth was a pleasant one of approx 3.5 hours direct, although we spent all day travelling and stopping at places of interest along the way.
