Maori Tours Kaikoura offer a unique and authentic Maori experience. I took a group of tertiary students from Wellington to participate on the tour back in August this year. We were treated like whanau, introduced to the beauty of Kaikoura. Thank you Maurice, Heather and Rebecca for showing us your piece of paradise and teaching us about your history and... More

Had a great morning touring this beautiful area, learning a bit of the Maori history and traditions. Guides went above and beyond by graciously celebrating my husbands birthday with a fantastic tea, cake and song. Walk through forest learning about traditional medicine from plants was beautiful and interesting. Some gorgeous old trees, great birdsong-real sense of the place. Highly recommend!!

A big thanks to Maurice, Heather and Rebecca of Maori Tours Kaikoura for sharing their wonderful insights into the local Maori history and culture, which we experienced on our recent Weltec field trip to Kaikoura - it was the highlight of my time there. The experience felt both sincere and authentic, not just the history and legends, but also the... More

We were lucky enough to have Maurice as our tour guide! He was charming, humble, and told a sorry so well. He kept us thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. His wife, who served us lunch, could not have been kinder. Fascinating information about the Maori history and culture. Time well spent.

The tour was recommended to me by a local, and I'm glad I went. What impressed me most was that, despite the fact that they've been doing these tours for 15+ years now, nothing about it seems "canned" (I've been on far too many tours where the guide seems to be reciting a script to the air instead of talking... My husband and I really enjoyed our half day Maori Tour. Ripeka and Uncle Major were the perfect tour leaders. We were the only New Zealanders on the tour and it was wonderful getting an insight into the ancient and modern Maori way of life. The highlights for us: the visit to a home for refreshments (the KawaKawa tea was... More

Kia ora Adella and Dafyd - so pleased you enjoyed the tour with us - it was a lovely group and everyone was so full of questions. That grandson of ours is a great haka man and we'll be sure to pass on this was a highlight. I think you can get some kawakawa for yourself at the Deans bush,... More

I was born a Kiwi, but have spent a long time in Australia. I pretty much missed the Maori renaissance that happened, to a large degree, after I left. It meant that the first culture I studied with special care and attention was not the one I grew up alongside, but far, far away in Asia. What a privilege to... More

Totally luv the experience. Both Rebecca and Gili were really friendly and very knowledgable. Of course the rugby was discussed. It was great to see the difference from my culture.

Rebecca, Gilly, Maurice and I so enjoyed meeting you both and especially the insights we had into your history Janelle. It was truly a cultural exchange and, rugby aside, memorable for us all. Thanks for spending time with us and for posting this review - Heather More

We wanted to learn at least a little about Maori history and culture while we are in New Zealand, but we weren't attracted to the large scale presentations in Rotorua. This tour exceeded all our expectations. There were only 10 of us in the group, plus the guide and the driver; so it was a very warm and personal experience.... More
