Beautiful little walk

Super awesome little walk by a stream to a waterfall that is filled with seal pups! Definitely a highlight of the trip.

We saw around 20 pups swimming it the stream right up to the waterfall which is only 10 minutes walk from the car park. Great for kids. Don't forget your camera

We visited here when the weather left some what to be desired however it didn't deter us and it was such a cool experience! We saw quite a few along the walk up to the waterfall and only a couple in the waterfall pool itself so make sure you spend time looking around as you walk up so you don't... More

Incredible experience to be able to see wildlife so close. The seal pups are literally only meters from you. This is one of the best wildlife experiences I've ever had - and its 100% FREE. (Notice on board says seal pups are only there April-October)

While everyone is desperately trying to take photos of seals on the shore, here the pups play right in front of you - in various parts of the stream & waterfall area. They are a real delight to watch in their natural habitat. Short ten minute, easy walk with plenty to see alone the way. (There are a few step,... More

How wonderful to be able to be so up close with our wildlife, it is a shame that some visitors to our country do not understand "don't touch" "don't throw things" " don't harass or stress " these are babies and we are lucky to be able to see them in their natural environment without disturbing them. It is a... More

A nice little walk to the waterfall where one can see sea pups in their own environment. Unbeatable cuteness not often seen so closeup in the wild. A must do if you are passing by. Beware of the traffic and parking outside this attraction as it can be rather busy at times.

Wonderful experience and relatively easy walking. Don't miss the opportunity, especially in the autumn.

About 23km out of Kiakoura, a must stop if travelling by early morning or possibly any time of day. Short walk to a waterfall with opportunity to see Seal pups moving or playing in the stream. When we arrived at 9:00am in mid-March we immediately saw a dozen Seal pups slide down the stream. We stayed still and quiet and... More

About 20 minutes north of Kaikoura, this steep tiny valley is home to very (over) friendly fur seal pups that cavort to develop their own skills and delight the tourists. A short path leads to three distinct pools home to around 20 pups when we visited. Advice: avoid getting up really close its not good for the pups and they... More
