We were there in winter and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. You get clear skies, the rocky seabed to walk on, seals and snow capped mountains in the distance. We did the peninsula walk to the point where you can take steps down the to...More

Visited on Saturday 19th May. We only did a small section of the walkway down near the Point Kearn Seal Colony. The section we did was a steep climb from the carpark but gives amazing views of Kaikoura and the ocean.

The Peninsula Walkway is lovely tramping trail with multiple and flexible options of start and exit points, lengths or loops. We chose to go around the entire peninsula at a leisurely pace. It took us about four hours. The trail is very well maintained and...More

A great walk and hike for the whole family. Make sure to visit this site while in Kaikoura. From here you can see both sides of the peninsula as well as the land “lift” from the 2016 earthquake.

I started this walk from the seal colony's side. The beach is really impressive and looks very outlandish. It is a very varied walk actually and the scenery changes all the time. By the end it was dark and had to be carefull not to...More

Our whale watching trip was cancelled due to the strong wind so had lunch and went on this walk. It was an easy walk out onto the flats and then up the hill across to the other car park. The paved walkway is a tiny...More

Great walk... see the coastline from the cliffs and see it down below... and get close to the seal colonies. There are thousands of them enjoying the break after days at sea. A lovely experience!

The walk follows the coast and leads you to the seal colony. Along the route there is information about the history and geology of the area. At the seal colony the oath takes you up the cliff and would then continue back to the other...More

Not sure about Ohau walkway, but quite possible after the earthquake. The place I started on the walkway was at the Port Kean viewpoint (there's a car park near there to drive up to so you can start the walk). I heard the... More

Hi, I think at this moment you cannot drive the coast road from Blendheim to Kaikoura. You need to drive inside the south Island and drive back to Kaikoura. The walk is free. It take about 3h, depend how far you walk... More
