Camping at Hortain Plains is an unique experience as it is chilling cold in the night. There are three designated campsites named as one, two and three. We have camped at Camp site 01 which is the best out of three. All these camp sites need prior booking from wild life department head office. A tributary of Belihul Oya flows next to camp site 01 and it is chilling cold at night. They don't allow to make a Bone fire at night time and you have to carry a gas or kerosene for cooking. While on one day camping at Hortain Plains we were able to complete circular trail of World's end with visit to Baker's falls as well.

It was such a fabulize experience that makes you feel so isolated and part of the landscape. The morning was so stunning with the crystal water drops hanging from the grass tips. Atmosphere is so clam that you can hear the sound of water flowing through the nearby “Belihul Oya”. It’s a life time experience that someone should have before death. The chosen camp site 01 was ideal as it is completely sealed from public giving us so much privacy allowing all our insane acts. Camp site need to reserve from the Wildlife Conservation Office by 1st Monday of a month. Liquor and campfire are not allowed and you can use gas burner to prepare food. But it could be very difficult in the night as temperature could drop to 5’ C. But that is the part of experience which you will remember.
