Really enjoyable hike with beautiful views. We went as a large group of mixed hiking abilities, everyone enjoyed and completed hike. The park is well kept with no rubbish on the track.

Restroom doors locks need fixing, alot of them didn't lock/shut properly.

We arrived around 1.30 to the fate and we had to wait 1/2hr until ticket counter person finish his lunch. He spoke very rude way to us. Ticket price is too much. Nothing to see for the overpriced ticket. Avoid this place. Not recommended at all.

Hortain Plains National Park is the largest plain situated in central hills of Sri Lanka. There are two entries to this place named as Pattipola and Ohiya gates. Hortain plain gates can be easily approached by train. In addition you can drive from Nuweraeliya to Hortain Plains.
Circular trail of Hortain Plains is the main attraction and you will come across Chimney Pool, Baker's Fall, Great World's End and Small World's end along this circular trail.
It is advisable to visit the place early in the morning as mist can cover up the view of World's end.
Camping at Hortain plain is an unique experience due to chilling cold at night. There are three camp sites and you need to pre book it from Wild life department office.
Hiking Kirigalpoththa and Thotupala mountains (second and third highest of SL) are another two treks which you can do in one day.

The entire trek took about 3 hours. The trek wasn't too challenging but make sure to go early in the morning.

I paid a visit with my family on 22nd February and unfortunately they have changed the closing hours. Previously it was 4 pm. Now it's 2.30 p.m. After that they don't issue tickets. So if you are planning make sure that you be by the entry gate before 2.30pm.

Later on we noticed a board showing all new amended times by the road at Boralanda junction. But the texts are too small for a passing vehicle to see. And even the heading says tickets are being issued until 04 pm. But we were there by. 3.20 pm.

Would have make a huge difference if the board and details were more prominent.

Yes the price of entry is on the steep side , but given the staggering beauty that unfolds before your eyes , surely it has to be worth it. A basic knowledge, gleaned from the information boards ,of the birds and other wildlife you hope to see helps too.The main features at Worlds End and the waterfall are outstanding, but it is the the overall feeling of effortlessly gliding along in a unique and special landscape that seems to be a law unto itself . It is not a difficult walk, but you do have to take care in places and, please ,do not climb over the wire fence at World's End, which is there to stop a repeat of the recent tragic fall. We could not believe the idiots who ignored it.

Early in the morning is best because of the crowds rather than the temperature. Take water and wet gear. Toilets are helpfully place around the trail at strategic points-don't forget paper!!

Recommended big time.

We got there for 6am and did the hike to worlds end, we were first there so got to experience it to ourselves which was pretty cool but within 30 minutes the place was full and by this time it's nowhere near as cool. The views are great but to be honest we have seen better views in Sri Lanka by speaking to locals and doing free hikes. The hike is an easy one and has some nice scenary which is quite different to the rest of Sri Lanka. The price is a bit high but you are contributing to the protection of the area which can only be a good thing. Overall worth a visit if you make the effort to get there for when it opens.

I found the small 'end of World' view much more pleasant and beautiful than the actual one. Probably it was too crowded on top.. Dont stress yourself too much if you are not able to make it to the top. View is equally if not better from the lower level
