when you see it by plane it seems so small but it is very nice to discover this in the middle of the reef.

If you've not seen it, you must organise a helicopter trip over the reef. Breathtaking! On a nice day the water is so clear you can spot turtles and sting rays, unmissable!

Wow, just wow. I never thought in a million years I would get the chance to see the Great Barrier Reef, and we did. It was everything we had wished for, and a lot more. It was amazing! You get the boat from the marina...More

I traveled to the reef with Air Whitsundays and our tour included a fly over Heart Reef. It really was a spectacular sight to see with my own eyes. The reef is simply amazing and well worth the trip.

Can anyone here shed some light on the cheapest operator or way to see the Heart Reef? E.g. the cheapest operator and where they take off from as most normal flight would take off from the PPP airport which means we would need to factor in the return airport transfer costs for 2 adults, which would be $80 from what I can see on the internet. Where do the sea planes take off from? We will be staying at the Airlie Beach Hotel.
