This is a little gem, restrained and imbued with the tragedy and division which war brings to ordinary men regardless of birth or nationality. It was a particular pleasure to meet the landscape gardener who is planning further plantings of native Australian grass species to carry the eye to the paddocks beyond. To my mind a beautiful memorial.

War Cemeteries all over the world are a constant reminder of the horrors of war, and they way they are managed and cared for is of comfort for those whose relatives are buried within. This one is no exception.

Whilst this is not a must see it is well worth taking a stroll around the War Cemetery . It is very well appointed.

Once you have seen the holographic display at the Visitor's centre - the sacrifice on both sides is very moving.

Beautiful, well maintained Japanese War Cemetery, however we would have liked some more history on an information board. Our visit was very short. The Cemetery is close to town and Japanese gardens.

The Well manicured lawns highlight the rows of plaques remembering those that lost their lives, believing and trusting in others. The Cemetery , established by Cowra RSL members is the only Japanese War cemetery and is dominated by a ;large black Granite monument. This is truly a little piece of Japan .

The Japanese War Cemetary, along with the Australian War Cemetary next to it provides a moving opportunity to remember the cost and sacrifice of war. This is a quiet, reflective place where you note the age of the dead and ponder the cost of war

The Japanese war cemetery lies just behind the Australian one. It's simple and elegant. Most of the deaths are dated on the same day, the day of the Cowra breakout. It's beautiful and sad at the same time.
