About
Tranquil. It's the perfect word to describe Cowra's Japanese Garden. You can't help but feel completely at peace when you walk through the lush gardens and cascading streams which represent the landscapes of Japan: where the hill is a mountain, streams are the rivers and the ponds inland lakes and the sea. Is this the most serene place in NSW? Spend some time walking around the equisitely manicured Kaiyushiki (strolling) garden, designed by Ken Nakajima and opened in 1979, and you be the judge.

Very well maintained and such varieties of plants, shrubs and flowers.

We were even lucky enough to see a strange bird devour a Koi.

Great gardens for a solo stroll. Quiet, peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable. Well kept clean gardens with plenty of water features and places to sit and take it all in.

These beautiful gardens have a special meaning if you view the Cowra breakout hologram at the information centre before visiting. The gardens are intricately linked to the breakout and Buddhist beliefs.
Before we spent an hour walking around the gardens we enjoyed eggs Benedict at the cafe onsite. We are coffee snobs -their coffee was very good.

Thoroughly enjoyed looking around here. Beautiful gardens, manicured lawns and clean water features. The koi pond is interesting as well as the lake. They're obviously fed well as they come as soon as you approach the edge for food. I loved the fact there are seats everywhere for older visitors. I have arthritis but took my time and managed to get around okay.
I used my discovery voucher so got in for free.
I also visited the cafe where there were lovely friendly staff and delicious food.

Always a nice place to visit, lush and green after recent rain. A great place to wander around with clear paths. A concert was happening when I visited

Beautiful gardens and an excellent Japanese cultural exhibition. So relaxing and pretty. Came in March and definitely want to come back in Spring to see all the flowers blooming.

A beautifully laid out traditional Japanese Garden - in fact the largest in the Southern Hemisphere! Very pleasant stroll from the ground level shop up the hill to the lookouts. A bit scary to be told snakes had been seen but fortunately we avoided any encounter!

On a very hot day the Japanese Gardens were so relaxing and felt so cool being there. Plenty of shady spots to sit, watch the ducks and fish you can buy food to feed the ducks.

The walking path around the gardens are easy and accessible for everyone to enjoy.

The traditional Japanese hut and house are a great to check out.

The staff are very friendly and the gift shop has some lovely items.

I very impressed by the size of the gardens and the gardens are meticulously maintained.
