Fun day at the races. Spontaneous visit and so happy we did. Dress business or business casual to fit in. Ladies wear your hats or fasteners. Betting with random bookies was confusing and different than US but once we met one we liked we stuck with his book. We won on the long shot so a very fun day! Get the package - includes meal vouchers and makes things easy.

Had the privilege of attending the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation's ladies' lunch at The WINX Stand. Kudos to the venue for its elegance and seamless service from the staff. The venue's accessibility and ample parking made it easy for the 1000 attendees to gather. The appetizing and warm food was an added delight, contributing to the overall success of the event. A big thanks to the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation and Royal Randwick for organizing such an impactful gathering.

Easy to get to on the Tram, great facilities. The new Winx stand is huge but empty on my day, great to be there when there was not a crowd.

Nov 2021
A couple of years back (disregard November 2021 as I couldn't select beyond a year) I visited Royal Randwick for the Cup Day races. Needless to say it was a fine experience until a "security guard" or "bouncer" refused to allow me to go in a particular area because it was apparently "booked". Fair enough if it was booked, but it was his rude attitude and inconsistent behaviour that ruined the rest of my day at the races.
Initially, I had walked into this special area fine with a group of friends and none of us were stopped or checked to ensure we had a booking/reservation. We were in this area standing at the fence to get a better view of the horses. At the time, we weren't aware that this area was booked (only realised after the incident - seeing all these signs).
Moments later, I exited the area by myself to grab a sip of water. I came back - and he says that I'm not allowed in and gives zero explanation. I ask him why not, but he still doesn't give me a reason but still stays I'm not allowed in. Eventually after a few more why nots, he raises his voice and says "it's booked", which almost sounded as if he made it up on the spot. Not once did I ever raise my voice nor interact with this "security guard" or "bouncer" previously.
Seemingly, he did not bat an eyelid when I walked in with a group, but as soon as I walked in by myself he felt the need to act all intimidating and defensive.
I called and emailed Australian Turf Club about this incident, but no one picked up the phone or responded to my email. Needless to say it shows the true colours of their customer service. Don't bother wasting your money going to this place, it's $40 for the entry fee. You are probably better off using that $40 betting on some horses instead.

Lost my shirt, but had a great time on Randwick Guineas day! Very easy public transport access via the new light rail facility. Reasonable general gate entry fee, excellent public viewing areas for mounting yard and finishing post. Good catering facilities and well stocked bars with minimal queues. An overall feeling of well-maintained spaciousness.

Had a brilliant day in the sun. Boxing day racing and it was very packed. Easy to get to, bus from wynyard stopped right outside. Free entry to international passport holders, got ticket and straight in, no queue. Second visit here and first time there seemed to be more food stalls. Inside the main hall there was only pies sandwiches sausage rolls, felt like I was at a football game! Luckily found a Greek stall outside on the grass and had amazing honey chicken and chips, gorgeous. Tons of bookies to take your bets so no queues there. Drinks take a bit longer, not many bars for the amount of folk but then it keeps the drunks down, not being able to drink too fast. Everyone dresses up and looked amazing and smart, police and staff keep good control and I was glad to see staff stopping three lads smoking on the grass, well done. A brilliant day but ladies remember your flat shoes to change into....

Came to the races on Melbourne Cup. A great venue, the race track was lovely. Great facilities, plenty of options to enjoy the day both inside and out. We chose general admission and spent the day on the lawn area where tables were set up.
Plenty of food vans set up and there was a few food areas inside.
Inside was plenty of bookies to place your bets plus the counter areas and some large scene TVs to watch the races.
Would definitely return a great day.

Day at the races for my birthday with family, this is a great facility the atmosphere electric, food and drink available. I recommend you organise your mode of transport home as it is extremely busy. (note it was Wynx's last)

Hi, I have general admission tickets for the Moet and Chandon stakes tomorrow (12th Oct). I would like to know if there is covered seating available for general admission ticket holders as rain has been predicted.

HI
I am attending the Champions day on the 13th April. We do not have grandstand seats eventhough I tried months before the event. Where is it possible to get seating for the general public as we are in our sixties and are not tall people. Tks

Hello, I'm just a little bit confused. I would like to go to the Royal Ranwick race day tomorrow on 5th of January, but as a backpacker I don't have any fancy clothes to dress. Do I really need to wear a suit pants and shoes with shirt ans tie to see the races? I have just jeans, dark green sneakers and t-shirts of many colours. Thanks for response. Patrik

I think you need a smart shirt and tidy trousers at the very least!
Hi, my friends and I have general admission tickets for tomorrows Everest Cup. What kind of undercover bar and seating areas will there be available considering the expected rain?

Can you please advise cost of ticks to the Queen Elizabeth stand on the 1 October 2018. My husband has parkinsons and to enjoy the day we need to know that we have seating. Thanks.
Hi Catherine,
Thanks for your question.
Due to 1 October being a Monday public holiday race day, we unfortunately do not have any hospitality (including reserved seating) on sale.
There is plenty of general admission seating available in the grandstand, which operates in a first in best dressed basis, so providing you entered in the morning you shouldn't have an issue getting a seat.
Kind Regards,
Katherine

The new Queen Elizabeth Stand stretches from the winning post back to about the 250 metre mark and includes Members’ area (closest to the post) and public areas. The Members’ enclosure also extends past the wining post (the Officials Stand).
If you’re a member of a BZ race club, you should be able to purchase tickets to the Members Stand/enclosure. If not, arrive early and stake a claim for seats in the public area.
Also church Australian Turf Club’s web site. Good luck!

As I recall the Octagonal Bar is a marquee with a bar/betting facilities in it, with a nice lawn outside. Am I wrong and it's something more? Just trying to work out if it's worth me paying the extra. I would be watching each race trackside and betting with the bookies so I wouldn't use the betting and TV facilities. Thanks for any info you can provide.
Hi Comosapian,
I think it would be worthwhile calling our team in sales to clarify exactly what you're after.
Here is the number: 1300 729 668.
Please ask to be directed to someone in the sales team.
Thanks,
Isabella

Can you wear leather thongs/sandals - being a pregnant lady?
Hi Claire, unfortunately thongs are not allowed but sandals are.
Thanks,
