How quirky to see these hanging houses. Great view to be had of them from the Parador or just on the bridge to the Parador. Worth seeing.

With help from the Renfe Ave train we did the day trip on our own. Off the main tourist path, definitely worth the visit if you have extra time in Madrid.

Steep climb down with many steps to get view. Can go onto bridge over gorge for good photos. All lit at night.

go down for a walk, a steep one indeed down towards the bridge and have a look at the incredible hanging houses. I can not help wonder how the builder managed, but good work peeps :)

It is just beautiful! Cuenca itself is a very beautiful place. We really enjoyed our time here. Casas colgadas or hanging house of Cuenca is a wonderful place to visit.

Incredible sight. We'd been before but are friends had not so driving north from Madrid we decided to detour just to see them. Everyone was impressed. Absolutely beautiful and literally hanging over an incredibly steep gorge. Scary too.

Best viewed from across the gorge or the bridge, the Casas Colgadas are impressive - and together with several of the balconies and other structures elsewhere in the town, seem to defy gravity. The houses now host a modern art museum.

These houses hang over the edge of a deep gorge and look like they could drop down any minute. I certainly would not like to live in one of them. However I am sure that they are perfectly safety live in. If you cross over...More
