This is a perfect place to have a chill afternoon on the beach in Rincon. Tamboo Tavern is right on the beach, serving up delicious food and drinks. The beach is even without a big drop off. My husband has traditionally come here every visit for bodysurfing with my father in law. It is a bit more crowded than other beaches in Rincon but not overwhelmingly so. There's also a trailer in the parking lot on the right side of the beach that rents surfboards, chairs, umbrellas, and other equipment.

Absolutely one of our favorite beaches in Rincon! Some days see amazing surf, some days see calm conditions perfect for bathing. If you don’t like the conditions one day, wait a day and they will change. Great beach for laying out. Hopping bars and restaurants line the charming little neighborhood that surround the beach. As long as high N/NE winds aren’t in the forecast, this is the beach to go to!

We enjoyed this beach very much. The waves were great and not too strong. My husband and 11 year old son body surfed most of the day. The beach sand was nice and no rocks. Our belongings felt safe on the beach when we were swimming. After swimming we walked to Tamboo and had drinks and a nice meal.

This eco tour was amazing! Beautiful sights all the way through. The tour guides Jose & Omar were very friendly and helpful and very well educated about the waters and caves. I 100% recommend this tour for anyone who is wanting to try it.

Very nice beach with some shady area because of the trees. Not too busy. There is a coffee and smoothie place just before you turn into the beach.
No facilities at all. No water now shower head to wash the sand no bathroom. I don’t recommend it to parents with younger kids.
There is an area on the beach where you can book a surfing class. We rented a board for 25 for 4 hours.

Beautiful beach. Beware the surf can be rough for swimmers and this beach is notorious for rip currents. My friends was pulled out several indeed feet within seconds and had a hard time swimming back to shore. Apparently there are several drownings per year at Sandy Beach.

Another beautiful beach in Rincon. No resorts or manicured beach here. No entrance fee & not a crowded beach. Good for swimming on shallow end, surfing, boogie boarding, beach walking, picnics and more. If you like sea glass, you can find it on Sandy Beach. No bathrooms and shower areas. Although there’s no restaurants on the beach, we had seen coffee shops, gift shops and restaurants along the road. There’s a store to rent non-motorized water equipment like boogie boards by the entrance in the parking lot.

Visited this beach twice during our visit to Rincon. Beautiful setting, supposed to be good for sea glass hunting. The waves were too large for this, but was still a beautiful beach which I plan to visit again. Homes/condos on this beach are beautiful.

Family of five (20, 18, 14) loved this beach! We went to Marina, Domes and Steps and Sandy was the best by far. Great food and bar on the beach. Chair, board and umbrella rental shop, very reasonably priced. Strong current with great waves. We will be coming back to Rincon because of Sandy Beach. Plenty of room to spread out, no vendors, and great sun all day long in late December. A must if you are in the area.

We stayed in Rincon for 4 days and visited this beach each day and we were often the only ones! The surf was too strong for basic swimming but it was fun to just play in the waves which were often over 6ft. We collected lots of shells and sea glass on this beach. There is an excellent bar/restaurant called Tamboo at the west end of the beach which was just voted #1 bar in the Caribbean! Amazing food and very reasonably priced. Parking is off street but very safe.

Any good restaurants near Sandy Beach for lunch?
Written 22 June 2018
Sorry for the late response, but I am currently in the middle of the Atlantic sailing to Potugal.
Yes, there are a couple places for lunch on Sandy Beach.
Tamboo is a bar/restaurant with a great deck with a view of the whole beach. Also, Casa Islena is a nice brunch-lunch place. See my review of it here on TripAdvisor. But it closes at 2pm, and only open certain days - usually around weekends. There are food trucks around there too - with I think Tacos, sandwiches, etc. pools Bar is there, but it maybe only dinner - they have good sushi. Hope this helps.

Is it ok to drink the water in Puerto Rico? CDC recommends safety precautions regarding water, fresh fruits, etc. Any stomach problems while visiting the area?
Also, are mosquitoes a problem, as CDC has a Zika warning posted.

We will be staying at Pelican Point on Sandy Beach in a few weeks. Our rental does not have beach chairs or umbrellas. Is there somewhere to rent them on Sandy Beach?
Written 13 March 2017
There are a few different bars on Sandy Beach that rent chairs. I'm not sure on the umbrellas though. Tamboo seaside grill is one of them.
Written 14 March 2017
Can you rent beach chairs, umbrellas? Is there a place to get food and cold beer? Thanks
Written 28 February 2017
Tamboo bar and grill will rent out beach chairs. it was $5 or $10/chair for the day. they required a credit card until the chair was returned. You can get food and drink there as well. There is a place under the Kahuna Burger place that sells beer to go.

What place to stay near or on Sandy Beach PR ?
Written 21 January 2017
Pelican Point (several 2 bedroom beachfront apts) is centered on Sandy Beach and next door to Tamboo. There are vendors that rent surf boards and beach chairs along Sandy Beach to answer the 2nd part of the questions above.

What villa or place to stay is near Sandy Beach?
Written 21 January 2017
We stayed a Puntas Stone Villa which was literally two minutes from Sandy Beach (down the road). It was a secluded oasis. If you do an internet search it will pop up.

Yes, you can bring your dog to Puerto Rico. You have to get a certificate of health from your vet and basic shots. American airlines can tell you the exact info. they ship dogs back and forth to Puerto Rico. and they cannot accept the dogs without the proper papers. Check with your hotels or places you will stay about their dog policy. In Sandy beach you can walk you dog. I think there is a dog restriction on beach but not enforced. Welcome to Rincon.
