This is an excellent hike! After about half an hour of hiking the trail offers incredible views. We loved hiking in the cloud :) What makes this trail extremely difficult is the mud. Walking up but especially down was challenging and very slippery. It added to the fun though, but we got really tired balancing and sliding most of the... More

We hiked this roughly 2.5 mile trail (each way) after several days of rain, resulting in a very very muddy trail. The views near the top were fantastic. I highly recommend this hike for those in decent shape looking for a low cost (free) adventure in Maui. The youngest in our group was 12, but I did see a few... More

We didn't quite reach the top due to the weather coming in, but the views were still incredible. Got a bit of mud but only at the bottom. Would definitely recommend picking up a walking stick, if there are none at the car park don't stress there were more at the actual trail entrance.

If you've read that this hike is muddy, let me tell you, it is REALLY MUDDY. Not just a bit of mud, but ankle deep, soupy mud almost 95% of the trail. If you are prepared to get dirty, then this is not a problem. We hiked on 12/26/16 in beautiful sunny weather. The trail was muddy(!), so make sure... More

This is quite a hike and you need to be in pretty good shape to make it all the way to the top. There were sweeping panoramic views that got better as you got up, until you hit the fog wall. The last 2 miles we were in a fog bank with wind and mud, but it was still amazing.... More

Should be a nice hiking experience when weather permits. Very muddy and slipery in case of rain. Check the forecast or be equiped.

Beautiful hike with sweeping views of West Maui Mountains and coastline. Beginning of trail can be very muddy at times, so need good shoes and possibly a walking stick.

Waihee Ridge Trail is a remarkable journey for those who enjoy the beauty of nature. My wife and I set out to explore this area in late November and the roads were full of sunshine with small pockets of traffic. Arriving was rather simple, once we knew where we were going. One piece of advice we'd suggest is to look... More

I did this hike solo. Before setting out I did my research and found opinions all over the place as to the suitability of this hike for solo lady travellers, so I would like to provide some tips for other solo hikers. 1. This is not a popular trail, as in you will not be waiting in line behind hundreds... More

Trail was muddy but what do you expect for this part of Maui? Be prepared. We saw some hikers trying to make the route in flip flops. Not happening. Don't let the first steep cement paved incline deter you as this is the steepest part of the trail. Once you get to the top, the views are absolutely stunning. Come... More
