Hiking with panoramic views

Beautiful hike with sweeping views of West Maui Mountains and coastline. Beginning of trail can be very muddy at times, so need good shoes and possibly a walking stick.

Waihee Ridge Trail is a remarkable journey for those who enjoy the beauty of nature. My wife and I set out to explore this area in late November and the roads were full of sunshine with small pockets of traffic. Arriving was rather simple, once we knew where we were going. One piece of advice we'd suggest is to look... More

I did this hike solo. Before setting out I did my research and found opinions all over the place as to the suitability of this hike for solo lady travellers, so I would like to provide some tips for other solo hikers. 1. This is not a popular trail, as in you will not be waiting in line behind hundreds... More

Trail was muddy but what do you expect for this part of Maui? Be prepared. We saw some hikers trying to make the route in flip flops. Not happening. Don't let the first steep cement paved incline deter you as this is the steepest part of the trail. Once you get to the top, the views are absolutely stunning. Come... More

We loved this trail. The concrete hill at the beginning is a workout but it's short. My 12. Year old came with us and she did fine. The mud is very slippery and down is worse than up. I forgot to bring a change of clothes which is needed! My daughter's shoes were very muddy as were ours. The mud... More

There are not many hiking trails in this rainy area of the island so I was lucky to have found it on a hiking website. To see the same area, you almost need to take a helicopter ride. No issue driving to the trail head on the small road. There is a nice parking lot. Nice climb up the mountain,... More

This hike provides fantastic views of the West Maui mountains and valleys. As others have mentioned parts of the hike are quite muddy and slippery. You need to wear appropriate footwear to deal with the mud (or go barefoot in the case on one hiker that zoomed past us) but the trail improves at the higher elevations. The views make... More

This was recommended by a local for the view and it was well worth the effort! The elevation gain and mud could be a deterrent for some, but the view is worth it.

Moderate level hike. Very pretty. 10m of massive muddy hiking. It would have been fine if I wasn't wearing tennis shoes. Wear hiking boots!

This is one of my favorite hikes on Maui. It offers amazing views of the valley and the west mountains. Bring water and snacks, it can get hot. it's best to hike early as it tends to cloud over in the afternoon. The trail can be wet, so wear appropriate closed-toe footwear.
