Wonderful square to meet and socialise. Beautiful architecture and surroundings and its great to respect and appreciate the history and story of the people who were here before us.

Love this square. I enjoy people watching and sitting outside on one of the benches is lovely. Also great when there is a weekend fair. The square is a wonderful meeting place for everyone.

Which seems to be where most plague columns in Europe are located. Take a look at it before doing some shopping or having something to eat or drink. Better yet...people watch!

Christmas Markets were held around the Plague Column, very enjoyable. This square seems to be a very popular place with both tourists and locals

Agree that there isn't much to seeing the monument, however understanding the history surrounding the reasons for the memorial column brings the beauty of the column out. The workmanship put into the building and design of it is incredible. It dominates the centre of the square and rightly so. Well worth seeing and taking some photos of.

True it doesn't take a lot of time, and true it is central in Cesky Krumlov and pretty hard to miss, but I enjoyed the Plague Column and the square tremendously. One often finds local musicians at the foot of the column providing beautiful sounds over the square. The architecture of the column and the surrounding buildings is so picturesque.... More

The Plague Column in the center of the Krumlov square is just that - a column dedicated to the memory of those lost during the Plague that swept through the city. The design and overall architectural style of the column is quite nice but it only takes a few moments to photograph and admire. It's one of the main points... More

Standing tall and majestic in the town square, one is reminded of the plague that once swept through Cesky Krumlov. Remembered by their descendants if descendants happened to stand right in front of the column. The nostalgic feeling will be evoked and memories of loved ones too. Great photo corner and you have to patiently wait your turn to snap... More

It’s hard to miss the Plague Column as it dominates the main square. The Column stands in the southern area of Cesky Krumlov’s main square called Place De La Concorde. It was commissioned in around 1712 by Princess Marie Arnoštka of Eggenberg, nee Schwarzenberg, and is baroque in its style. It was built to commemorate those taken by the plague... More

Column built as a memorial to the victims of the Plague epidemic of 1680 is in the middle of the town square. It has the Virgin Mary on top surrounded by the eight Saints, Wenceslas, Vitus, John Evangelist, Judas Thaddeus , Francis Xavier, Sebastian, Rochus & Gaetano, who protect against further plagues. The fountain was built at a latter date... More
