It's like stepping back in history. The atmosphere is amazing.there is a constant buzz, people everywhere enjoying the surrounding of the medieval buildings and streets. There are lots of cafe's, bars and souvenir shops, cobbled stone payments,Astronomical clock, and everyone is attracted to the old square. You never want to leave, the more you look the more you see.

Of all the places I've travelled to, I have to say the Old Town Square is the most romantic of them all. The buildings are just beautiful and I'm not even into architecture. One of the nicest short breaks I've had.

On the square at one o'clock in time to see the astronomical clock "ring". Great experience, but the square was also very crowded. A recommendation would be to arrive earlier or much later on the hour as this is not something you want to miss. The technology to cart this clock is incredible.

This square probably show off some of Prague's best preserved and colourful buildings. The east/north sides boasts two particularly great examples of their kind - the Kinsky Palace (Rococo) and the house at the stone bell (Gothic - look up to see how it got its name) The south side with an array of Romanesque or Gothic buildings. It is... More

We were lucky to have a hotel located on the edge of the square, so we visited on several occasions. The buildings surrounding the square are remarkable, there is a really good tourist information site and many tours start here too. There are loads of good bars and restaurants nearby or in the square itself. In the evening the atmosphere... More

This beautiful square represents Old Prague at its best. Bustling, filled with good local eats, beautiful buildings and of course the famous Astronomical clock. Oldest one around. Make sure to watch the skeleton!

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
