When in Prague we take the tram to Hradcany Castle and walk down the steep hill past the Jewish Quarter and over St.Charles Bridge to Stare Mesto. We don't stop in the expensive square restaurants instead we go through a narrow alley to where they serve Staropramen Beer and great sausages at much reduced prices.

Old Town Square offers a variety of architectural styles, the astronomical clock, a cathedral, food and drink vendors, and street performers. You can find a city tour in the square, or you can get a drink, find a bench and people-watch. It is crowded, especially at the top of the hour.

Pretty cool because it is so open and offers a lot of beautiful architecture. There are a bunch of tourist traps in the square but it's still worth the visit.

its an astonishing city full of history , at the old square there are a lot of interesting monuments and each 1 has its own story, 1 of the things i would recommend is taking any of the free tours over there cause it really made a difference

It was a very interesting, clean, and historical place. This time of the year it was not very crowded. You have to wear comfortable shoes since it involved a lot of walking.

Great place and superb weather during our visit. Loads of people bit you feel secure with the police around. One advice be there at the beggining of each hour to see the little show of the famous clock.

Wonderful place to see the castle from this view. And from morning to evening the place is nice to take a walk in. Also you get a chance to see the wonderful Prague castle from here, but I would suggest a night walk and to see the castle with the wonderful lights.

Very nice place that breathes history. Expensive restaurants around though. A very nice gallery under the astronomical clock.

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
