This is a beautiful opera house and one could picture Mozart there conducting the Marraige of Figaro -- which is what I saw. Unfortunately, the staff were either very courteous or downright surly. One usher did not smile at anyone that I could see the whole time. a note: the ticket says that this is a cultural centre and therefore... More

Second time in opera in Prague. This time Mozarts easy going Le Nozze de Figaro. Bought tickets just a day before and got the price of 12 eur / ticket which is just amazing price for any opera. Charming and smallish venue, we loved the atmosphere! If visiting Prague, this is not the most stupid ways to spend 3 hours... More

Just finished watching I ballet production of the snow queen. Highly recommended. Beautiful production right costumes and excellent music. The opera house itself is exquisite. The upper floors are less recommended because you cannot see the entire stage. Well worth a visit.

We didn't get chance to go inside but if it's anything like the outside it will be stunning. It's easily reached by either tram or walking and is very close to the Jewish quarter. The state Opera house looks stunning during the day but at night with the lights come on it's simply beautiful.

It's definitely the most beautiful opera house I have ever seen yet I'm not a big fan of them. The interior is elegant and massive with lots of pink and gold with and an intimate setting. I strongly recommended you to make an advanced booking to avoid disappointment. Don Giovanni played during my visit and it was an experience I'll... More

We didn't go inside but the building from the outside is huge and has a very nice entrance. It's worthwhile to pass by to take a picture. This site is near other historical places of tourist interest so it's not a waste of time.

I only saw it from outside on our way to the Jewish area. Handsome building, great piece of architecture. It's located next to the river/bridge as well, you can make you way to the castle side from here.

We went to see Don Giovanni on opening night at Estates Theater and it was fabulous. We followed the earlier advice and did not skimp on tickets and opted for two box seats as it was for an anniversary - and they were worth every single penny. We did dress to impress but it was more for the over-all experience... More

The most beautiful opera House I have ever seen, bar none! Saw a show while in Prague and was treated to a stunning performance by some truly spectacular performers/musicians. I would very strongly recommend that anyone visiting Prague visit this opera house and see a performance.

Sadly I was only able to view the State Opera building from the outside due to the refurbishments, but I was lucky enough nevertheless to see the State Opera Company at the nearby Karlin Musical Theatre instead. It was every bit as good as I hoped and this first timer is I am pleased to report now hooked on this... More

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
