the museum is a short walk from the main square an,d definitely worth while - i last went to see the exhibition of angels in art which was comprehensive, including work from several centuries up to the present day, both two and three dimensional, and was a real eye opener for those of us only familiar with raphaelesque angels. the... The museum of modern art is the nicest museum in Olomouc. The nice staff is very friendly and willing to help around (even with limited English). The museum has a nice collection, although their set-up is quite unconventional. Don't miss the second building near the big church!

It all depends if you lean more towards Tate Britain or Tate Modern I suppose, but this Museum of Modern Art houses the biggest collection of utterly depressing art I have ever seen collected in one place. The special exhibition of angelic paintings was quite bizarre and included one large canvas with Christ on the cross at the top, a... More

The large gallery containing the main permanent exhibit was inexplicably closed the day I was there. Another large gallery exhibited drawings, designs and illustrations mostly from mid-20th century. I found the work interesting, but rather dry and it needed better curation because it was rather repetitive. I almost missed a small gallery, all new glass cabinets exhibiting some of the... More

Visited as part of the ticket price for the Archdiocese museum. It had an exhibition by famous Czech sculptor Zbyněk Sekal. Other than that only two other rooms with some furniture, plastics, ceramics and record sleeves, posters reflecting 1960's design. The upper floor photograph exhibition was closed n cordoned off unfortunately. An economical visit.

An absolute must in my opinion. I am not a modern or even classic art fan, but but this museum is simply superb. A credit to this beautiful town. Sadly on my most recent visit, the upper floors were closed for refurbishment.

A fair amount to see and some English language descriptions of the formative trends. But I was put off by the little old ladies sat on chairs in each gallery who wanted to see my (free) ticket. There's a modern wooden spiral staircase leading upto a worthwhile rooftop view. The lady at reception tried (unsuccessfully) to insist I left my... More

In Old Town, smallish, seldom crowded and usually has interesting exhibitions. We've been in Olomouc twice and this has been on our list both times.

Some people say they do not understand the modern art. Do not believe them, it means they are either socially dead or too lazy to communicate with objects that are able to vibrate your soul. If you accept my invitation to this building you cannot be sorry as there are pleanty things to see and admire. Start from the top... More

The collection here is not huge, but they have a very nice selection of artists. Photography is allowed as long as you don't use flash or tripod.
