Grand Entrance to the Old Town

We were staying at Novotel Centrum so needed to cross the dock and enter the Old Town via this magnificent gatehouse. One of Gdansk's many photogenic buildings.

The Green Gate was just along the riverside from our hotel and we used it daily. Beautifully built on the old town side of the river with lovely restaurants and bars all around. On walking through the arches you enter into a beautiful square containing restaurants, bars and a wonderful church.

Although there are many Gates (Bramas) in Gdansk, this is my favorite! Absolutely must see! On the right part of the entrance of the gate, from the brigde, you can see, maybe even visit Lech Walesa's office! If you do not know who Lech Walesa is, google it and go see this gate! :)

You easily get a stiff neck walking along the Ulica Dluga watching at all the impressive facades en route. The street get wider towards the end and that's when you've come to the Dlugi Targ, the Long Market. Stop there and look at the impressive building in the end of the street, facing the riverside. That's the Green Gate (although... More

This gate leads you to the main exit to the main road. It can be said it is the entrance to the old town. The design is very attractive and meaningful. It is the starts of the old town last Long street.

A really big building, you can't miss it. It's at the start/end of dulga street. And it's close to the crane.
