We had a group of 20 touring Poland. This was a must see spot. We attended the veiling of the Madonna and had Mass the next morning. An amazing story to the Black Madonna and gorgeous surroundings.

You have to be ready for the crowd! We were there on a Sunday and it was wall to wall people. It was cold and rainy day but people are very religious in this country! The museum is very crowded (I mean crowded!) and really...More

Impressive icon of Polish Catholicism. Very beautiful and on many people's must see list. However, it was located in a small chapel whose entry way was undergoing renovation. Extremely crowded with people on top of each other. Felt uncomfortable and unsafe. We visited on Wednesday...More

The monastery is impressive. There is much to see here. There are many images of Our Lady of Czestochowa throughout but the original can only be seen at certain times. It is in a very small chapel and is covered most of the time. We...More

The Black Madonna is the main attraction here. But, this whole place is very inspirational and rich in history, very well loved by the Polish people! Spending time with the Black Madonna was surreal! Don't forget to visit their garden and it will surprise you!

Whether you're Polish or not, Catholic or not, this shrine -which is located roughly halfway between Warsaw and Krakow - is truly a MUST-SEE. Before getting to this site that sits atop a hill, I highly suggest you research "The Black Madonna" and why this...More

Hej, you can mail them.
Did you pre-arrange the tour with the monk or was that something available to arrange on the day of your tour? How long, would you estimate, was your visit?

It was pre-arranged by my guide. I would suggest this if you want to avoid the crowds and get personal attention.
How do you go about booking a tour with one of the monks? Did you do this in advance? Thanks for information you can provide.

You are able to book ahead, online. I would include the link, but TripAdvisor won't let me. Not everyone is a monk. Some lay people help with tours and there is also an order of nuns there that help with things, though it... More
