This is a good starting point for touring the old town. It's a nice open large square with good picture opportunities.

While standing in Castle Square you can view, at the same time, a castle from centuries back, buildings that have been restored and are in use as apartments and business, and remnants of the walls that once encircled the city.

Surely the castle square worth a visit. But take care to visit it on a shiny day. It is always noisy and full of people.

This very large esplanade links the Old Town and the castle. Completely free to visit, there are a number of cafes, restaurants and shops to visit as well as giving great views of Warsaw.
