Overview
More
The large window that nature carved in the face of the Prisank mountain is the best-known in Slovenia. It is a staggering 80 metres tall and 40 metres wide. Its tattered rock cliffs and the large mound of scree below indicate that sometime in history, the rock was punctured at a weak joint causing a landslide that, through rock-deterioration and weathering, grew to its present day size. Which is the correct name, Prisank or Prisojnik? This is a dilemma that has been going on for more than a century. Both names mean the same in the Slovenian language and the name of the mountain indicates that its slopes are positioned to face the Sun.

The Local guide gave us plenty of time to stop and gaze at the Rugged mountain terrain which had some deer on high ledges or so I was told. I couldn't see them despite fellow travellers attempting unsuccessfully to point them out. Wonderful place to...More

Open part of the mountain is a real hole. You can pass by when you climb to the top of Prisank mountain. Another, difficult path leads even through this window. For all the ordinary visitors I recommend to look at the window from a distance....More

We were on a tour through the Julian Alps and this feature as pointed out to us by our guide. It is quite spectacular.

Located quite a distance after bend 12 there is a parking sign which we discovered was the viewpoint of Prisank mountain, the window and the Heathen Maiden. The window was clear to see in the mountain and although it only looked like a small wedge...More

Not so much for the "window" ... but the environment around the area is really beautiful. Along the road there is some space to park and enjoy the area.

The window looks very small from the look out point but it is 83 meters tall and 2 Statues of Liberty would fit through the gap. It doesn't take long to look at it but it is impressive to think how it would look if...More

The small window is visible from Lake Jasna but to see the large window you will need to drive up the Vrsic Pass with its 50 hairpin bends.

Perhaps if you get right up close to it (on, quite likely, extremely scary paths) it is impressive... but from the base of any of the peaks, or from the valley floor such as in Kranjska Gora, it looks tiny; the scenery as a whole...More

Thanks to Tripadvisor contributors we found this amazing natural sight. Although the sun was not shining through it, but once spotted you'll be enthralled. There is a view point with lots of information, so you do not have to be a hiker to enjoy it.
