Worth the price!

If just for the views worth visiting but the extra tastes of history make it worth paying. Make sure you go before 1100 on a weekend to avoid big crowds and tour groups.

As a castle itself, it isn't really worth visiting at all - the small structure is converted essentially into tourist shops and restaurants. However the walk uphill was quite pleasant and offered nice views of the city. So if you have time to spare, I would recommend it for the views, but not so much else.

It was a sunny day in spring and it was really crowded by school excursions. We were able to go around a bit and checked the exhibits and at the closure we were lucky to get a table outside and have a nice coffee.

This was not a traditional castle but is very worth a gentle walk up the hill to spend an hour wandering around it!

The ticket buys you access to the watch tower. Offering the best view of town but not dissimilar from what you get for free. The museum is well presented but provides little more than Wikipedia. In all, of you're on a budget you can probably save the ticket.

We timed a visit to the castle perfectly, as one of Slovenia's most famous poet's has his birthday celebrated, by offering free admission into all the city museums and castles! We took a tour that included actors playing out 6 different ages across history that played an important part of the castle's history. This brought all aspects more to life... More

Due to lack of time I chose to visit the castle. It is well renovated and offers a great view over the city. You learn about the history and a restaurant is located there too for a snack.

Apart from the views across Ljubljana and a nice walk around the park and to and from the caste, there is not much in it. There is a charge now, I have been a few years before and it was free entry in to the courtyard, now they charge. I think there isn't enough to see for a change.

We had an exhibition in the castle and I liked the flair and the view. The location is a must when visiting Ljubljana. We walked to the castle but you can reach it also by car

Ljubljana castle is very nice and very tidy. There you have restaurants, cafes, museum and fantastic places for taking photos with Ljubljana in the background. Path for going down (or up) is full of adventures but it has to be marked and secured better with notifications that it could be very hard to pass with strollers or wheelchairs - since... More
