The square has nothing with revolution. It is place with many cultural institutions around: National library (architect Jože Plečnik), City museum and small place for exhibition, small Baroque church and Križanke monastery, transformed in a summer festival place by architect Plečnik. Main point of the square is an obelisk, dedicated to Illirian provinces and to Napoleon. You can go to... More

Towards the edge of town, this square is a bit less busy and a bit more relaxed than the larger ones nearer the centre. There is a column dedicated to Napoleon and some fine old buildings around the perimeter. This area has a student air about it and there are museums, theatres and galleries in the surrounding streets. It is... More

On the square there is the Summre Theater (Krizanke), also a work of Plecnik. There is an obelisk to the memory of the French revolution and Napoleon.

Secluded square near the city centre. Home of the large obelisk dedicated to Napoleon as a representative of French revolution. Without going into sense of that notion, rather unexpected place to find monument to Napoleon. Also, very relaxing and quiet place. Worth visiting. Recommended.

An unique slovenien great obelique monument to the memory of Napoleon is in the centre of the square, with a very nice lunch bar in front of it.

This short street runs the length of the Monastery of the Holy Cross Summer Theater (Krizanke). At one end is the city museum. At the other end a fairly uninspiring square pillar honoring france. The best thing we saw on this street was one night they had a light show where they would draw on the exterior of the building... More

This is away from the river and not part of the usual tourist area. It is an interesting square with some history but not special. Further on there are some interesting parts of the city not normally visited by tourists.

I was trying to find the City Museum when I came across this obelisk which I understand is a tribute to Napoleon.

From a side street you walk in to a wider boulevard that ends in a big monument dedicated to the French revolution. Near the University library, with Le Petit Cafe just across the street, this quiet part of Ljubljana is really a nice sight to see. While you're walking around, be sure to take a few minutes of your schedule... More
