It was our last couple of hours in Budapest and I wanted to walk on to the bridge for a photo. We then noticed a unique structure on the other side and walked over. We followed the crowd up the hill and discovered the Cave...More

I have been in Budapest many times, and still after so many years there is always something I haven't been to. I was walking along and noticed the cave church from the bridge. I decided to visit and was surprised to see it. I took...More

This was a really great Church at a very affordable price. The audio guide is included in the price and is extremely extensive and informative. Definitely worth a visit.

We have viewed many churches on our trip but this is very different. Located within a cave it is very unusual, there is a good audio guide. It is located near the Gellért Hotel & Spa.

I've never seen a church in a cave before so this was really something different. The architecture on the outside is something to see as well (see photo).

Intresting history behind the church. Reasonable entrance fee. Cave is much larger then expected. Both me and my partner truely enjoyed ourselfs and found it fascinating. Well worth the fee.

The Cave Church (Sziklatemplom) is literally located inside Gellért Hill. Unlike other churches that are majestic with high ceilings, ornate domes and towers, Cave Church is inside a natural cave system with stable temperature of 20C as it is formed by thermal springs. Entrance is...More

I think the purpose was supposed to be a hidden church. One does not always have a clear view of the altar or priest, it certainly is a very unusual church. A good visit to see.

Removed from its historic context, this church is just a small church hewn from the rokcs. Everything is primitive. Some historical site looks magnificient even on its own, such as a castle. This cave church is not one of them. So if you are not...More
