If you are a history fan than it is worth to visit, as a lot of famous Hungarians has got their graves there. Otherwise, this is alittle bit outside of any main attraction

Kerepesi Cemetery - easily accessible from Keleti Pályaudvar metro stop - is probably more attractive in spring and autumn, given its park-like setting. In early February, most of the trees are bare, except for the ubiquitous balls of parasitic mistletoe feeding off the limbs of the trees. This huge cemetery is certainly well spaced in terms of roads, pathways and... More

The cementery is very spacious which make it very calm. There are many trees so you feel like you are outside the city. The cripts and statues are very beautiful, they are more like monuments. I liked the fact that tumbs are not all packed in at all but more or less put at random or with space around.

This giant and beautiful park gives you few calm hours in the downtown and you can visit tombs of famous poets, authors, actors, actress and politicians.

Fantastic oasis in centre of Budapest, enjoy a quiet few hours away from the hustle & bustle of the city, beautiful place & plenty of Hungarian historical figures interred here. The on site museum is not only free also but gives a marvelous insight into Hungarian mourning & funeral history beautifully presented. A must see.

Beautiful place to walk around, lots to see. The leaves and the trees and the aging statues and the Italian arcade style are make for a wonderful (and free!) 60-90 minute walk.

I'd say that it is more like a park than a cemetery. If you want a quiet walk in a beautiful garden, surrounded with great sculptures you should visit Kerepesi and you wont regret it.

I recently spent 5 days in Budapest and I made my way to the Kerepesi Cemetery, based on my interest in the 2nd world war and also the 1956 uprising in Hungary. I found that the history of Hungary is quite complex and I hoped that this would help me in my interest. I wasn't disappointed, it was a wonderful... More

This is such a beautiful park. The biggest memorial park in Budapest, reminiscent of Père Llachaise in Paris. The arcades are very ornate and beautiful - the Soviet part is brand new, of course - this is why Putin came here in 2015. A must see - especially to see the old funeral coaches coming down the tree-lined path. Some... More

This most important Hungarian cemetary is not very popular with turists and clearly deserves more attention. You have a feeling to be in beautiful park, tombs are rare, quite a space between them. Some tombs are real objects of art, for example Gabor Antall's one. Besides all, it is a great place to have a quiet walk in a bit... More
